Cyber Monday. Give Back While You Shop.

As someone who has a deluded sense of self healthy ego I’ve never been a huge people idolizer.

It’s hard to find time to focus on the awesome of another (or stay awake even later to read up on other people) when your own awesome requires so much of your attention to keep up.

People truly underestimate the drain being awesome takes on people.

But, I totally get it now.

As most of you already know I’ve been working on the whole body image thing (apparently mine is a little off); I’ve started running (when freezing rain doesn’t get in my way), I’m about to start eating healthier (gimme a break, it’s the friggin’ holidays), and I posed in a nudie blogger body calendar for charity.

What more can I do, people?

Well, I do actually have a few things up my love-my-body-better sleeve and I’ll let you know how they are working out when I get around to it (I’m in NYC this week so you’re gonna have to wait ‘til I get back).

In the midst of all of this I have found a few ladies whose body image confidence I idolize.  I just wish I could say these words and mean them…

“I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly

I don’t think you’re read for this

‘Cause my body’s too bootylicious for ya babe.”

Seriously.

I mean I say those words, with passion and vigor when that song hits my car radio, but I don’t mean them.

Not really.

Not in the good-woman-power-I’m-bad-I’m-bad-I’m-bad-I-know-I’m-bad way that Beyonce and friends did when they said them.

Perhaps it’s the fact that I’m not actually bootylicious that makes my commitment less intense (somehow bellylicious doesn’t have the same ring to it).

Or, perhaps it’s the fact that I don’t have ice skater stockings, hair extensions, sequins, and a Cover Girl endorsement in my arsenal to give the words power.

Either way.

I’ve just always wished for the power to say something like that and mean it, or at least seem to (my shifty eyes and upper lip sweat always give me away).

So I’m working on it.

Pretty much everyday I’m not stuffing my face (which during the holidays is really not very many) I’m working on it.  Oh, and when there is freezing rain.  I don’t work on it then either.

Maybe if you bought the calendar it would help?

I mean you buying the Blogger Body Calendar which features pictures like this…

of bellylicious me (and a bunch of other sexy blogging peeps), is pretty much almost like the exact same thing as me having a multimillion dollar modeling deal with Cover girl, only just different.

And, it’s for charity too!

To raise cash for girls (and boys actually), who feel exactly the same way I feel sometimes (and you sometimes too, admit it!), but worse.

Way worse.

Instead of spending all of your cash on camera lenses and jewelry and what not this holiday season, why not donate a little bit of that to me some people who really need it?  The National Eating Disorder Association will thank you (and I’ll feel pretty bootylicious too, even if I know deep down you are only buying it to see Mr. July’s sexy and Pajamas and Coffee’s nip peakage!).

buy-it-now

After you BUY YOUR COPY we’d love for you to join us in our blogger body Flickr group to share what body image means to you.*

*You don’t have to buy the calendar to join the Flickr group, we just want you to.  And, you don’t have to be a blogger to join the Flickr group, or buy the calendar, or tell me I;m pretty or anything.  It’s open to all people who have $18 and want to give it (most of it, some of it has to go to getting the actual calendar to you) to a worthy cause.

  1. Look at you, Mrs. May! Freaking awesome! This is the best calendar EVER. Love it.

  2. You are so brave! And running?! Are you crazy?!?!

A positive body-image is hard to come by. Good for you for working toward that aim. I should do it too, but I really love chocolate, and I’ve decided that nobody’s really looking that closely anyway. And I don’t care anymore. :)

  3. You’re very brave! That takes courage that I don’t have.

This -is- a very important cause and a great idea. Sexy images of -real- women? Whaaat? Did I hear someone say “Finally!”?

(I figured it was time to come out of the shadows and stop stalking you– er– lurking around on your blog. I’m not crazy. I swear.)

  4. I’ve been waiting for a sneak peek into that calendar. Look at you!! You sexy thing! Love it. And what a great cause!
