Getting your party on this weekend?
Last week I cohosted a Cooking Connections party on The Motherhood with George Duran to get you and me and pretty much the entire picnic loving world ready for the picnic party season.
George shared a bunch of great tips and an awesome recipe for a Cesar Salad Wrap (watch the video, the recipe is there) that even I could whip up.
But, let’s say you’re like me, and your idea of an awesome picnic/BBQ involves little kitchen effort and a bunch of people applauding your mouthwatering contribution anyway.
There’s only one way to accomplish this feat, people: Dumb Mom’s Salsa.
Now, if you know me in real life, I DEMAND THAT YOU NAVIGATE AWAY AT THIS MOMENT.
Seriously. You have to leave. Or I promise to never make you salsa again for the rest of life.
Are they gone?
Great!
I don’t want people who know me to learn the secret to my success lest they decide to just make my salsa themselves and cut me out of the festivities entirely.
Even though everyone knows a party’s not a party ‘til Dumb Mom rolls through and her kids break something, get into a fight, pee off your deck, and smear BBQ sauce on your white couch!
See why I’m hesitant to let this out into the world? It’s currently my only ticket into civilized living.
But for you, anything!
Dumb Mom’s BBQ Bangin’ Salsa
2 cans diced tomatoes with chiles
2 T fresh chopped cilantro or 1 teaspoon of dried cilantro
1/4 teaspoon sugar
hot sauce, pepper and salt to taste
Put it a blender. Press go. Stop when it’s about as watery as you like it to be.
That. Is. It.
And people go nuts.
Want a hearty version? Try this…
Dumb Mom’s Black Bean and Corn Salsa
1 can diced tomatoes with chiles
1 can black beans drained
1 can corn
couple sprigs of cilantro (or a 1/2 teaspoon of the dried sort)
salt and pepper to taste
Drain the beans. Dump everything into a bowl. Mix. Serve. Grub. It will be better tomorrow if you make it today.

pBd Admits She Gets Paid: My participation in the Motherhood live chat was compensated. I told them they could’ve paid me in tasty lettuce wraps, but the shipping on that was tricky.

Yummm looks great! Hope you and your family have a great long weekend!
The first recipe makes just a little bit. Do you double or triple it when you’re taking it to a party?
Oh looks YUM! My friend Lindsey’s mom makes one similar with bell pepper and I think she throws mango in it for a sweet kick. I need to try this asap! I could live on salsa!
