A Life Without Instagram is No Life for Me.

Do you ever wonder what life was like before electricity?

It must’ve been really hot, and boring, and hard, and lame.

You know people did it, because obviously they had to.

But, don’t you just like feel sorry for their misfortune to have been born in the dark ages?  And so totally fortunate to have not been subjected to that hot, laborious, decent entertainment devoid hell on earth?

Yeah, that’s just exactly how I feel about Instagram (follow me as @dumbmom).

Clearly I know what life was like before I came out of the Blackberry ages and discovered it, but all I can manage is a vague recollection.

Sorta like life before kids.

Like I know I lived it, and I know Dumb Dad and I were together then, but I just can’t recall what we did, or even what we talked about before The Dudes exploded onto the scene.

Everything was just so much less exciting and full and memorable then.

Life is just better with Dudes.  And electricity.  And INSTAGRAM!

So I use it a lot.

Quite possibly to excess.

I use it to capture The Dudes…

And wildlife (clearly it’s wild life season where I live as the critters are coming out of the woodwork lately and The Dudes don’t let any of it go unnoticed)…

And Dumb Do-what-the-hell-Dumb-Dog-you-are-not-supposed-to-be-on-the-friggin-bed Dog…

And happy moments when I get invited to come on local TV news-for-fun shows and talk to a couple of cool ladies about baby gear…

Most of which you can win right here if you’re into that, incidentally.

The rest of the images are pretty self explanatory (except for the Dumb Dog one; there is no explanation for dog in bed and she knows it!), but maybe a little backstory will help with that last one.

  1. Look at you slipping the TV appearance under the guise of Instagram! Ha Ha! Just kidding, you were having fun – I see that. #packmulish You coined a new term too. Great product & tips for new parents, things I’d never seen or heard of (except the socks).

Stopped in from Gretchen’s place. Your Dudes are adorable! I’d take copious pictures of them also. I had Dudes also. They have grown up and moved out now so I have much fewer critters coming in the house. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

  3. That snail-in-the-jar-lid photo is my favorite. And like you, I love those little fake-shoe baby socks.

  4. Look at you!! Super exciting, girl!!

  5. I LOVE instagram, however, I often forget about it. I just haven’t been pulling my camera (or my phone) out that much lately. Shame on me.

  6. I love instagram too. I’ve been thinking about putting it on David’s new phone but he wouldn’t get it and then I would just get mad that he wasn’t using it.

  7. Oh, I am SOOOOOOOOOOO proud of you! Congrats (and very very good, not fidgeting (I would have been fidgeting and over-nodding)). I love Instagram but too often it tells me my upload failed so that’s irritating b/c it happens randomly. Then the next few will work and it’ll be an hour or two before that one will go through (or sometimes it never does).

But separately, I have a question that I am afraid to ask so please pretend it’s not me asking: how do you see the captions of the dang pictures? You can see it if the person tweets the pic but if I go into Instagram itself and look at the feed, I can’t see them. If people are commenting based on just what the caption is, I’m lost.

  8. Your dog’s on the bed. Ha! And you are taking a picture of it before you yell at her. I can see you’re using me as a role model. That’s just nice.

  9. I love Instagram, too, but I don’t use it nearly as much as I ought to. I need to change that habit because those pictures are cuuuuute!

Congrats on the TV appearance – how exciting!

  10. I am newer to Instagram but I don’t know how I lived without it.

  11. Congrats on your tv appearance!!

Well I do not have instagram (sorry!) or even an iphone for that matter ( I know I know) but I will agree that I am glad not to have been born into the Dark Ages– indoor plumbing is a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I love Instagram…. and electricity (a lot).

It’s like a little glimpse into people’s lives. It makes you feel closer to friends you know through blogging or ones you may have met only a time or two. It’s like it brings us all a bit closer together.

  13. Stopping by from Mama Kat’s, I love the picture of your son and the dog. Congrat on the TV spot.
