Did you see that? Dude Mom Monday has been temporarily renamed.
Yep changing things up this month.
In honor of Dudes who are dads.
Because they deserve a little love rubbed on their websites too, right?
Right.
So let’s get it started in here all Black Eyed Peas style with Zak Normandin…
Sanppy dresser. Entrepreneur. Super cool hair-owning Dude Dad to some sweet kids.
Baller. Shot Caller. Straight up gangsta (there is even photographic evidence of this; please also note, Zak is the Dude on the left).
But most importantly (ok, of second importance behind the whole being gangsta bit), he’s also the Dude behind the Duck…
Little Duck Organics, a company that makes awesome teeny baby snacks for awesome babies of various sizes, is a brand that I’ve been familiar with for a while now.
I met them through a bloggy bud, and I’ve loved them ever since.
For their tastiness, for their funness, and for their appreciation of the creative use of a homemade word.
Plus, in case the word organics doesn’t clue you in (because sometimes, if I’m honest, it doesn’t) they are pretty darn good for your kids. In the healthy sense.
Before you get carried away with all of this awesome, let me just keep it real here for those of you who aren’t all kinds of familiar with Dumb Mom: I do NOT live organic.
I eat organic when it comes to my table and I didn’t have to prep it, or cook it, or serve it myself. I buy organic when it’s easy and relatively affordable.
But, I have been known to tear up a Chik-fil-a chicken salad sandwich, and I appreciate a good bag of Funyons with a Diet Cherry Coke chaser as much as the next chick.
But.
I also make every single effort humanely possible to feed The Dudes the healthiest foods available that will also fit my budget (LDO does) and pass their rigorous taste tests (surprisingly, LDO does this too).
I’ll also admit that it took a while for The Dumb Family to get on the LDO band wagon. We don’t have a Whole Foods in our entire county (I know, bloody boondocks). And, the first time I poured up a bowl of the dried fruit snacks for The Dudes, I got the wonky eye from all three of them simultaneously. And then they gave them to the dog and asked me for some “wet” strawberries.
The dog LOVED them, but since I sorta think organic fruit snacks are too good for my four legged homegirl, I shuttled my inventory of the snacks to my goddaughter (who LOVES them too, incidentally) for weeks instead.
And then one day, we were headed to the park, and I needed to pack some snackage that was healthy (mommy group judging is in full effect at this particular park; I needed to be extra prepared) and not likely to destroy my outfit with its sticky wetness. I opened my pantry and a bag of LDO fell out.
Like, literally fell out on to my feet along with a box of Honey Nut Cheerios and a can of creamed corn. I may need to look into organizing that thing a teeny little bit.
My cat-like reflexes allowed me to narrowly avoid a broken toe and then I packed just my LDO (a playdate is no place for creamed corn) and rolled out.
When we got to the park with nothing to choose from but a fresh bag of LDO and a couple of cruddy Cheez-Its stuck in the bottom of my purse, #3 picked healthy and clean and my little LDO eater was officially born.
He’s been making it rain organic fruit snacks around our hood pretty much ever since…
I’m thinking Zak’s LDO birth story was a little less painful and way more inspired, but we’re all loving on these tiny fruits now and that’s really all that matters, right?!
Go check out Little Duck Organics on Facebook and wish my big homie a happy Dude Dad Day while you’re there; it’ll make him smile.

My dog will eat anything…but if my kid likes it too? It’s a Christmas miracle
Fun! And yum! And more fun!
(Love that bow tie! :))
Could #3 be any cuter? Seriously.
Judgemental mommy groups? This is what I have to look forward to with my little one huh? :) love the bow tie on #3!
Those pictures are awesome.
I’ll have to look for these the next time I’m in whole foods. Your dude looks so cutebin his bow tie :-)
