Beyond Bologna. Stop Wasting Time & Come to My Party Already!

Hi readers.

My name is Amanda, and I’m a procrastinator.

Go ahead and say it: “Hi, Amanda”.

I honestly don’t even know when I became this way.

I used to be so well organized.  I rarely got distracted from a task and I was never late.

In fact, I was always early.

Possibly even uncomfortably so.

Like you know, I’d show up at a friend’s house so early when we were heading out for the evening, that she would maybe be butt naked from the shower and banging her shins on the coffee table trying to cover herself as I bust in through her door.  Or something.

Point is, being late was not my thing.

And I followed through on things, and I wasn’t forgetful, and I never, EVER had to rush to get something done.

I’m not like that anymore.

Now?

I can hardly clean my kitchen without being distracted 20 times by randomness.

Sure, a lot of my distraction can be directly attributed to the other creatures that have become a part of my household in recent years, but still.

I’m a grown up.

I should be able to wrap my head around a task and get it done.  I shouldn’t put things off until the last minute so that they lay either totally forgotten or done shoddily as I hurry to get them completed.

And I should never have to fly from my house, sweating bullets and screaming like a lunatic at my children to GET-IN-THE-CAAAAAAR-I-TOLD-YOU-GET-IN-THE-BLOODY-CAAAAAR, as I stumble down my front steps with a boob hanging out of my incorrectly buttoned shirt and two shoes on that are definitely brown, but certainly not a matching pair.

But, I do.

When I’m late, I tell people the dog got loose, or the kids had a breakdown, or those Boy Scouts came to the door again just as I was about to leave and I had to write them a check.

Mostly, when I say those things, I am lying.  The dog is too lazy to get loose.  I ignore my children when they have breakdowns.  And, I’ve never, ever written a check for the Boy Scouts.

I just don’t give myself enough time to accomplish tasks without sweating.  And cursing.  And sweating some more.

And, that is bad.

Really, really bad.

But, also maybe super easy to rectify?

I’ve decided to institute a timer for myself.

Just like the naughty child I seem to be.

I’ve been using it all week to help me with school prep.  I set it in the morning when I get on the computer to check my accounts.

15 minutes.

That’s all I get.

And then I shower (yes!), and make lunch, and sign notebooks, and vow to not turn that computer on again unless it’s a bona fide emergency (whaaaa?  Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry?!  Google, please tell it isn’t so).

I’ve seriously reduced my yelling by at least 12%!

Okay, I made that up, but I do know for sure that I am NOT yelling in the morning anymore.  And sometimes, you really can only win the battle, even if you know you’re still going to likely die in the war.

I’d like to help you guys win a couple of battles by hosting a Go #BeyondBologna with Muller creative lunches Twitter party with my #BeyondBologna buddies!*

Not sure what Muller is?

Well, it’s probably one of the tastiest treats that doesn’t instantly make you fat to show it’s happy little face in the US of A in recent history.

They say it’s yogurt.

Me?  I just like to say it’s awesomeness.

I seriously eat it every single day of life, and that is NOT just because they have stocked my fridge with the stuff.

I even hoard certain flavors and hide them from my kids.

My faves are the Fruit-Ups; they have this delicious, fruit flavored topping sitting above the yogurt that you can stir in.

But, the Corners are good too.

Those are the ones with the tasty treat on one side, and the yogurt on the other so that you can flip it all in at once (that’s what I do), or add it in gradually as your taste buds see fit.

Because Muller gets how much of a struggle school lunching can be for kids and their mama’s, they are providing some sweet prizes: 3-$25 Amex gift cards & gift boxes of yogurt deliciousness to make your mouth water.  Or share with your kids.  Whichever.

Even if you don’t have kids who need lunch, you should sign up.  That way you can hang out with me, and my co-hosts (@mtdlblog@sharonmomof6, @mullerquaker & @elainea) and possibly score some yogurt you can put in your belly and a gift card you can buy a cute pair of shoes with!

Just leave your Twitter handle in the linky below, take two seconds to follow the hosts (the first 5 in the linky), and then hop on Twitter next Thursday (9/6) at 9:30pm EST to talk to us about your best lunch ideas, what struggles you are having when it comes to feeding your children, and anything else you want to chat about!

Hope to see you there!

*pBd Admits She Is An Awesome Spokesperson for This Brand: I have been hired as a spokesperson for Muller yogurt.  This means that I get paid to talk about it, but I don’t get paid to like it.  I like it because it’s awesome and that is the only reason I agreed to talk about it in the first place.  The money is awesome too, of course, but the yogurt is tasty even when I go into a store and buy it myself.  All prizes are being provided by Muller.  I’m just here to hand them out and look pretty!
