The Dudes are huge fans of the graphic t-shirt.
They are fun, they are easy, and they have one for pretty much every occasion.
Know what I recently discovered?
Graphic shirts aren’t just for kids!
I know, where I have I been?!
Clearly not paying attention.
But, when I saw today’s featured mom at our football game this weekend, I had to take notice, because seriously. How cute is this tee…
Today’s featured football Dude Mom of two, is rocking a skull and awesome t-shirt from Zara.
I couldn’t find it online for you (she says it’s because it’s from Miami where stuff is just cuter), but I did throw together a few other graphic shirt type ideas that you can rock…
And, here are a few things to keep in mind when over 29 and rockin’ the graphic tee…
Graphic Tess for Grown-Ups Who Also Happen to be Awesome: 5 Tips
1. Don’t forget to pay attention to the words. Shirts with offensive statements are not cute on mom at Back-to-School-Night. Save the crass sayings for never that grown up Halloween party you and the hubs like hitting up every year.
2. Don’t forget about fit. Sloppy isn’t cute, right (although I hear it’s making a come back, it’s still not gonna be cute on me)? Not even if Madonna is involved. Make sure your graphic tee fits well. It will make you look more Material Girl and less Like a 40 Year Old Virgin.
3. Do check grown up stores. Even the grown lady shops you’ve come to love are getting on the graphic shirt band wagon. The featured sweater above is from J. Crew and I’ve also found adorably adorned options at Express and New York and Company. You don’t have to hit up the local Forever 21 with the blaring music and the fussy 15 year olds who make you hate your barely-there crows feet to shop this look (although you can if you want, they have plenty).
4. Do try throw back shirts. Because seriously, every one in their 20s 30s spent a little time loving on Jem and the Holograms. Please note: I have not found a fashionably sensible Jem shirt to rock yet, it was just an example.
5. Do have fun! Fashion should be fun. It’s not all about severe lines and strange hair styles. Even if you have one of those office jobs I keep hearing about, you can add little elements of awesome to your look. Consider slipping a graphic tee with a little sparkle under your blazer for a fun Friday look. Unless your boss would freak and fire you, and then, forget I said anything.
So are you down for rockin’ the graphic tee look this year? Or is this going the way of the leather shorts for some of you?!

If you haven’t checked it out already, I think you’d really like the graphic tees at Modcloth. Not a spammer, honest.
For the Geek Mom, xkcd has many comics printed onto nice t-shirts.
OMG — I LOVED Jem (I also liked the rival band, but I can’t remember their name at the monemt)!Thank you for all of your videos, you’ve uncovered a new world for me. Your energy is infectious, and your story is so inspiring. I’ve got a couple for you — Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie, and Ginger from Gilligan’s Island (you could even sing “You Need Us,” lol)
Cute picks and great tips!
David is a huge fan of graphic T’s… from American Eagle. Just so not right on a 43 year old man. I’ve since had to monitor his graphic t-shirt purchases to make sure they are suitable.
Me no like-a the chicken/bird one but those BOOTS! (I have a naughty graphic tee that I think I’ll keep forever and ever amen (and hide it from my girls because NOOOO)).
Totally made my day and crushed my dreams all in one paragraph! :-(

Jem is outrageous, her music’s contagious-we love Jem and she’s on NETFLIX!!!
Seriously we need to design one and one that I can make to match mine for my 4yo who is obsessed with Jem and the holograms.-I might be joking….maybe!
And now that I’m passed that….THANK YOU! Seriously the other day I was saying how ewww graphic tees were for anyone over the age of 25, but you paired them up really cute and I would totally rock one now!
A nice fitting graphic tee is my most favorite thing to wear. I need to get some red Chucks though. I think that look is as timeless as Grace Kelley…well, maybe not quite.
I’m a big fan of graphic tess too (tee hee!). Honestly, I find the best ones in the teen boy dept. I’m actually wearing one now and it doesn’t look a bit boyish. The hem and sleeves are a little big longer, which is great for me and it’s a teal blue with a great medieval graphic on it in greens, blacks, and a hint of gold foil. I just dread the day I show up to a back-to-school night and some boy and I are wearing the same shirt!
I always want to wear graphic ts but never buy them because I feel like I will look dumpy. Or like a boy. Or like a lesbian (which would be fine if I actually was one). But if I looked like this mom, I’d be so proud of my hotness. Super cute.
I have a few graphic t’s. Ok, so maybe I only have one, but I sure do love it!
Great tips.
