The National Kidney Foundation 5k in NYC. You’re Invited!

I’ve shared numerous times with all of you about my diagnosis with kidney disease.

It’s a part of my daily life and it’s something that I am fortunately, able to manage quite easily via medication.

But, that’s not the case for many people.  And, I realize that it may not always be the case for me.

Millions of people suffer from some form of chronic kidney disease and even more are at risk.

The National Kidney Foundation works tirelessly to raise funds to assist those who are affected by this disease, and those who may be in the future.

One way in which they raise a large sum of money for research, assistance, education, and furthering the other missions of the organization is via their annual kidney walks

This year, celebrity host (and husband to superstar hot mama vocalist, Mariah Carey), Nick Cannon will be hosting one such event in NYC!

And, guess what?

I’m gonna be there with him!  With my deuces up, of course.

They maybe said something about making me a flyer.  Or, I’m making that up because I wanted my own freakin’ flyer.  For awesome upping announcement purposes.  So, um, yeah.  I handled it.

Point is, I’m joining Team Nick and the thousands of other registered walkers to help raise money for the foundation and I hope you will join us as well.

Naturally I’d love for you to sign up for Team Dumb Mom Nick and come out to the Seaport on the morning of October 14th to walk with us.

I’ll high-five you, tell you you’re pretty, probably even teach you how to Dougie give you a Dumb Mom special fist bump.  Plus, we’re gonna hang out, meet Nick, take awesome photos throwing up the deuces, and have some serious fun co-sweating as we speed walk a 5k together (it’s really not super far, if I can do it, you sure as heck can).

But, I know that all of you don’t live in or near NYC, and since I’m not bank rolling like that, there’s no way I can afford to fly you out (although, if I could, I totally would, and I’d buy everyone new kicks and cool shirts and like cute little water bottles that say Team Dumb Mom on them, so we could hit the walk-route in Dumb Mom Awesome style!).

Doesn’t mean you can’t help though!

If you have space in your heart and money in your wallet (and the desire to get a totally free month of advertising for all of you bloggers and business owners out there), I’d love it if you could hook me, my boy Nick, and kidney patients everywhere up with a donation by clicking here: Support Team Nick.*

Insert corny spiel about how I know that these hard economic times are a burden for everyone, yadayadayada, but I want you to know how much any little support you can give will help, blahblahblah, and people who are losing this battle will totally thank you.

And, I’ll name a star after you, and light a candle for you, and tell all of my friends about you.  Like you’re Batman, but way more amazing because you can be a hero without covering your face, or using that annoying sinister voice, or getting drop kicked in the throat!

See how this is a win for everyone!

Also, if you’re a NYC blogger who wants to get on my special VIP list where you get to pop water bottles with me following the race, please shoot me an email so we can chat!

*Dear people who have something to advertise: if you donate $20 to Team Nick you will receive a free month of sidebar advertising on pBd.  $100 and you get a full year!  We also have opportunities for on-site sponsorship the day of the walk.  So, if you’re a business that would like to help and also get some good blogger exposure, please hit me on the hip shoot me an email to parentingbydummies[at]gmail[dot]com so we can chat!

  5. I have a uncle, age 58 who is at the top of the list for a kidney . He was transported to the hospital in Alabama Tuesday. I would like to know how to purchase your t-shirt. My goal is to pass the t-shirt throughout the family across the state and have them sign it, frame it and take it to him. Keep him in your prayers and I will make a donation to the cause.
