Everyday Style for the Everyday Mom: Just Wear This!

Because I say so!

And, also because I like copy catters.  As long as said copy catters don’t steal my words and post them on their own blogs (that’s just shady) or show up to an event dressed exactly like me only better (that’s just annoying).

Instead of continuing to embarrass my children and make random strangers feel awkward in public, I’ve decided to end Mom Chic on the Street (you know, for now) and replace it with Just Wear This!, a fashion series that is pretty much only just about me.

Like the rest of this blog.

Because that’s the way, uhhuh-uhhuh I like it, uhhuh-uhhuh.

Forgive my insane-sounding mutterings and 90s musical references.  Being that I am possibly the sickest grown up human that doesn’t like to lick shopping carts, I am doped up on cold medicine and delirious from a combination of fever and exhaustion.  It is my 3rd recorded illness this quarter and I’m asking that you don’t hold me accountable for what I say here; unless I mess around and say something amazing, then totally blame me!

In order to make taking my own photo 10 times easier I recently snagged myself one of those remote shutter clicker thingys.

It only set me back $10 and it works like a charm.  Please note, it only serves to make taking one’s own photo logistically less challenging; the awkwardness of attempting to look amazing and nonchalant intentionally remains.

Regardless, I am so all the way in love with my clicky-thingy and I love using it to take pics of me being ridiculous while dressed in clothing.  Hey bust a move…

Young MC wishes he was still this fly.

But you can be!  Rockin’ everyday clothing that is as comfy and mom-functional as it is hip and cool (I actually got this shirt when I was on What NOT to Wear!)…

See?

Wearing jeans is as easy as wearing yoga pants.  Just like wearing a colorful, flowy shirt is as easy as donning a stretched out sweatshirt (this one doesn’t even have buttons).  And those flats?  Just as happy on your feet as flip flops and Crocs.  Looking stylish and human doesn’t have to be hard if you Just Wear This!…

  1. Seriously looking smoking hot! So stinking skinny! (Love the details on those jeans, too).

(and the gif? cracking me up!)

    • Thanks! I can’t figure out why my gifs look sorta pixelated. Just like I can’t figure out why I have so many photos of myself dropping it like it’s hot!

  2. Amanda, you rock my socks off girl!! I take ALL of my fashion cues from you, just fyi. A flowy top is just what I need to hide my Christmas-cookie-top I’ll be rocking for a few. Brilliant, as always.

    • Awesome! And thanks! I am totally the go to girl for what to wear after downing a box of cookies. I own that, yo! And, I promise not to rock leggings as pants. I’d hate to steer someone down THAT path!

  3. I totally enjoyed this episode of Drop It Like Its Hot.

Also, I’m obsessed with your flats! Loving the whole square toe thing. Where are they from?

    • So, secret on the flats. They are REALLY old. Like 5 seasons maybe? I got them from J.Crew before I had #3 and never really wore them because I was a clothes ogre. Now, they are getting some work!

  4. The .gif has me cracking up. I love it.

    You look awesome. Seriously.

  5. OMG love this – you are looking hot mama! And how did you do that rotating photo? Super cool!

  6. You are freaking adorable! I love this new series. I am so out of the fashion loop that i need this. I try. I try so hard and usually fail. I do absolutely adore that purple and peach/salmon cardi. I need to add that to my wish list. I actually want all of it.

  7. bust a move was the late 80s. but who’s counting?

    • I know, I know. 89 to be exact. But, I didn’t start paying attention to music until the 90s so I pretend everything happened then!

  8. Smokin’ hot. I love these fashiony posts.

  9. You crack me up. I love the animation! You’re rockin’ those jeans Mama – lookin’ fabulous!!

  10. Paulina J! says:

Looking fly mama! And that animated gif just kills me :)

  11. super cute! where do i get said $10 clicker? Mama wants to have some fun!

  12. I don’t know what I want more- one of those remote clicky things (for $10 you gotta tell me where you got it)…. or the awesomesauce sweater you featured….. love it! And luv ya 2!

  13. I love that sweater you found. It rocks. Now I notice you didn’t link to the remote shutter thingy. Why’s that? Don’t want to share the brilliance? :D

  14. LOVE LOVE LOVE the shirt and pants too cute. Umm doesn’t your camera have a countdown timer along with the ability to set up a certain number of shots?? Mine does. I can set the timer for like 10 seconds and it will shoot anywhere from 2 to 10 shots in a row.. ya know without the clicker thingie lol

  15. Hahaha… this post was awesome in every way. You’re right though… just wear the jeans.

  16. AHAHAHAHAHA! You are a nut!!! I cannot stop laughing at that GIF!
