Summer Fun Friday. Best Summer Photos EVER.

Part of today’s post is being brought to you by Mom Central Consulting.

I’m gonna share with you some of our best summer photos, but before I do that I’m going to tell you about Canton, Ohio.

Never heard of it?

Eh, no biggie.  Based on what I’ve seen of the place you’re not missing much (although admittedly, I’ve seen mostly just the inside of a conference room and a ridiculously hot turf field), unless you love football.

Canton is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

A huge building filled with more football related memorabilia than I can ever hope to care about.  And busts.

Remarkably creepy life-like busts…

Shiver.

I’ve been spending the majority of this week running from air conditioned space to air conditioned space trying not to burst into flames to learn about youth football health and safety (which I will also be speaking about at Blogher next week).  So, while I don’t have any fun-because-I-look-ridiculous amusement park photos to show you, or pictures of Channing Tatum and his fine self movie stars to share, I do have a multitude of really bad photos of myself taken by others.

Lucky me!

From top left to bottom right we have: super blurry me, somewhat blurry me, somewhat blurry me at an odd angle in which my eyes are completely closed, and the only real way I can get a non-blurry photo, a #Selfie.

All I can say is, sure, having a waterproof phone case is amazing when you bend over to wipe your kid’s butt and it falls out of your bra (you know you’ve stored yours there too) and into the toilet (yes, it happens, don’t pretend like you don’t know), but it’s slightly less so when a stranger attempts to take a photo for you (the thicker shield on the front means pressing hard and being all wobbly, a feature I hear the company has modified).

In other news, Lay’s potato chips is celebrating their 75th anniversary by sharing iconic summer moments.

Before I left I spent some time snooping around at my parents’ house looking at old photos and I stumbled across this gem…

bossy baby

I love it because I have a curly fro-hawk, I’m rocking an impractical-for-the-pool, but highly fashionable necklace, and I’m clearly being Miss Bossy Boots the leader I was born to be.

I’d say that in my life, this is one of my most iconic summer photos.

Only The Dudes seem to be able to give me a run for my money in the awesomely-epic-summer-photo department…

  1. Ah!! I live about 30 min from canton- we don’t get many shout outs so I was pretty excited to see your post. Annnnd you are absolutely correct it isn’t exactly the most happenin town in ohio!

    • DudeMom says:

Awesome! A Cantonian! I have to be honest and say that I can’t really judge since the majority of my time was spent in a conference room at Kent State or at the luxurious accommodations provided by the Courtyard Marriott, which, for the record, didn’t really have much of a courtyard.

  2. So are you saying that beads don’t go well with swim suits? I guess someone forgot to tell the high maintenance looking teen diva that I saw at the beach a couple weekends ago. LOL!

    • DudeMom says:

No, someone told her. But, it was probably her mother so she likely just rolled her eyes, smacked her lips, and thought something evil while ignoring her entirely. Teen divas are shady like that.

  3. #3’s excitement and happiness is always so evident in your photos; I love it. And yes, you are totally owning those yellow beads.

    • DudeMom says:

Yeah, pretty sure #3 gets his photo taking awesome from 3 year old me. What happened to that? I’m so awkward now!
