Summer is over.
Okay, not really, but essentially.
We only have 13 days until school starts. Thirteen. Days.
And then no more cuddling in bed for hours in the morning followed by pancakes and cartoons and trips to the lake…
We didn’t do super amazing at our summer bucket list thingy, but I’m not too torn up about it. We wound up creating some pretty sweet summer memories and we have a bunch of excuses explanations for why we didn’t get to the list…
First, we’re still debating the whole summer party thing. I mean, we had a block party after all, and we have a party at the lake pretty much every single week…
We pack a lunch, roll out the beach gear, and make a day of it. Plus, all of their friends are there and it’s free.
Do we really need ANOTHER party that I have to plan, host, and pay for myself? I’m thinking no.
We’re going to a baseball game next week, and we may even squeak in an amusement park then too.
We tried to do the whole flea market selling thing. Like a for real try.
Seriously. I laid out all of our junk wares, and packed The Dudes in the car. And then? A torrential downpour hit and I was not trying to even think about sitting in a West Virginia flea market soaked to the bone all day.
We hit up the indoor market instead and dug through the awesome for a few hours…
It was just creepy enough to be interesting and we actually wound up with some pretty awesome finds (excited to start working on the makeover of that horse!).
Backyard water park just seems silly now. Especially because it’s been raining so much that they’ve had ample opportunities to dance in it. Which is pretty much the same thing as a water park, right?
Painting the bedroom is also out. Only just because I say so. They don’t seem to mind the baby puppy mural emblazoned across their bedroom wall anyway. So why bother with all of that effort? They’ll wipe their boogers on the freshly painted walls just like they do on the scuzzy ones they have now. Go ahead and gag and then check your kids’ walls, right by their pillows. See what you find.
In news of awesome we did pull off this summer, Dudes #2 & #3 and I hit up DC for a little exploring recently.
I generally abhor the touristy parts of the city, but every now and then you kinda just have to deal with it. For the sake of the kids. And, seriously good frozen yogurt.
What are you feeling Wordful about this week? Angie at Seven Clown Circus and I would love to see your posts so we can feature you like these lovely peeps from last week…
We joined the Idea Girl and family at the blueberry farm, celebrated Christmas in July with Heck of a Bunch, got to visit Boston with Better in Bulk, and got down and dirty with the roller derby at Because I’m the Mommy.
