Life with kids is always interesting.
They have a refreshing, innocent, and sometimes, downright hilarious way of looking at the world.
That is a drawing Dude 3 made for DudeDad and me on our anniversary.
Apparently I am quite brown, and DudeDad spends too much time in the sun. He enjoys working out (wearing a Spartan Race shirt) and I enjoy cheering for them while they work out (wearing a shirt with their youth football team name on it).
We are also happy and in love and healthy and supportive of other people who want to be healthy even though actually getting healthy via exercise is not totally my favorite thing to do, which is almost exactly what we want him to remember of his life as a child.
So score one for expert parenting!
There are so many life lessons we aim to teach on a daily basis that it is nice to note when you’re actually doing it right!
But I am not the only teacher up in here.
If I really think about it, he has taught me just as much, maybe even more, about this world!
He’s so much more insightful, thoughtful, empathetic, patient, eager, genuine, and funny than I will probably ever be. And, he has this unique perspective that allows him to approach the world in an open and honest way so that he absorbs as much as he reflects and then turns whatever he learns onto its positive side and makes it shine.
He has such an interesting way of interpreting things that I know we can all learn some great life lessons from him, and he’s only just started living life.
And no, I’m not just saying that because he’s my kid and I think he’s the absolute best.
Even though he is.
And probably I totally am.
But, still. We’re both right.
