When it comes to Marvel superhero movies, I feel like there are two types of people: true fans and people who I don’t get at all.
For those of you who are in the true Marvel fans category, you probably already know that Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray is set to be released today!
Chances are also that, if you’re a true fan, you’re seriously looking forward to checking out all of the amazing bonus features included in the release. Because you’ve already seen the movie 6 times in the theater and you really can’t wait to see what deleted scenes are included in the Blu-ray.
If you happen to fall into the other category filled with the people I don’t get at all, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR COMES OUT ON BLU-RAY TODAY.
It is a super hero movie from the Marvel Universe.
It features The Avengers which is a team of super dudes like Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, and Thor, who have taken a vow to protect Earth from evil. It also has a bunch of other super heroes (think Spiderman, Black Panther, Peter Quill aka Star Lord) because they all come together in an epic superhero match up to fight the biggest evil villain the world has seen to date, Thanos. He is a huge faced super monster villain on a quest to find the Infinity Stones. Once he has them and adds them to the Infinity Gauntlet he can snap his fingers and eliminate like half of humanity, a task he desperately longs to accomplish because he is crazy. And, by crazy I mean that he, like many unstable super villains with bad childhoods and destroyed home planets, believes he is on an evil killing spree for the sake of the greater good. If I’m honest, his argument actually makes sense if you can get past the fact that he’s arbitrarily just killing people in order to save others, but that’s a whole other post.
This trailer sums things up nicely.
Now that everyone is on the same page, I’m here to tell you that you most absolutely should be excited about all of the Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray bonus features. They are an awesome upgrade to an already seriously awesome movie.
Let me break them down for you.
10 Things to Know About the Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray Bonus Features
The Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray Bonus Features include seven separate sections.
These are, Strange Alchemy, The Mad Titan, Beyond the Battle: Titan, Beyond the Battle: Wakanda, Deleted and Extended Scenes, Gag Reel, and Audio Commentary.
Each of the sections provides a different, unique look at the film.
Or extended scenes (like things that didn’t happen in the movie originally, but were filmed to add a little extra to the story), or explanations from the writers and producers themselves.
Strange Alchemy is not about Dr. Strange.
It’s about the process the writers went through before shooting, to explore how certain characters would interact on screen. When I sat down to chat with Trinh Tran, Executive Producer of Avengers: Infinity War, she described the process to us a bit:
…you know, when we worked on the story, we really tried to figure out which Character made sense with each other, right? We call that strange alchemy, putting characters together that you normally wouldn’t see, uh, ever. I think to me and it already did happen, it was really Tony and Strange because I really like those two personalities and I wanted to see the Ego vs. Ego and where that was going to go. There was a lot of uncertainty and brainstorming like these two guys that we call Goatee vs. Goatee.
The Strange Alchemy section lasts for about five minutes and gives great insight into what the writers were thinking in terms of the relationships among the heroes.
The Mad Titan is basically a look back at Thanos and all of his crazy.
It explains where he’s been and how he got there since Avengers: Infinity War is all about where he is and where he thinks he’s going as the person many consider to be greatest villain of all time. It sort of delves into why I said before that his mission makes sense in some ways, if you can eliminate the parts that also make it entirely insane.
We get a behind the scenes look at Thanos’ destroyed world.
To understand how it was created to look so amazing in the film.
We finally get a better understanding of Gamora and Thanos’ relationship.
After swooning over her little green self as a child.
There are four deleted/extended scenes.
My favorite: The Guardians Get Their Groove Back –where Drax and Peter quarrel after Gamora is taken. So many of these films contain the most amazing writing and dialogue, but I have always loved Drax.
Another deleted scene shows us that Pepper and Tony are still as Pepper and Tony as ever.
As the scene containing the quarrel over their wedding demonstrates.
And, we even get a look at Happy.
Everyone’s favorite Iron Man bodyguard/best friend/driver/jack of all trades makes a brief appearance.
You will love the Gag Reel.
Because it is hilarious.
Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray is now available at retailers nationwide.
