I was hiding from my kids while trying not to hack up a space monkey from my lungs working this weekend when I suddenly realized that there are a bunch of photos that I’ve been wanting to share with you guys but mysteriously haven’t!
Okay, it was a lot less dramatic of a discovery than that. I actually think it was a completely accident, but I’m going with it anyway.
Prepare to be bored to tears mildly entertained by photos of me and my children.
5 Awesome Things That Happened This Fall that I forgot to tell you about despite their obvious significance and over-the-top awesomeness
1. We went to the beach. I know, no one goes to the beach in October. But, we did. WHA-WHAT?! Best part? For one day, it was actually warm enough to get IN the water. Virginia Beach is funny like that; sometimes the fall temps are water friendly, and sometimes you have to go to Target and buy yourself socks and boots because the flip-flops you brought ain’t cutting it.
2. I made my very first ever GIF (thanks to Papermama & her How to Make a Gif Tutorial). I received a Soundfreaq Sound Kick Wireless Bluetooth Speaker to review and, after doing the Cupid Shuffle with it for 45 minutes in my kitchen I realized that it deserved one. It has some technical, um, issues, but it will do (the Gif, not the speaker)…
See the joy on that face?! That’s what I feel now whenever I do the dishes. Or cook dinner. Or pretend to work-at-my-makeshift-desk-in-the-kitchen-that-is-really-my-counter. Because at anytime, I can just turn my Soundfreaq on and bust a move drop it like it’s hot dance in a way that doesn’t make me look, sound, or feel like I’m super old. Life changer here people. No joke. Having my favorite music at my fingertips in this way just adds joy to my day that was previously inaccessible. I am actually listening to PM Dawn, I mean Rihanna, on it right now!
Plus, I love that it’s small and easy to tote around from room to room; it doesn’t mess up your décor, and it won’t break your back either. And the sound quality! To be such a little unit with such an affordable price tag, it’s quite the little booming system.
It’s the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys music and has access to a Bluetooth device. Which means, your granny who still listens to her jams on a record player in her parlor every evening is probably not going to enjoy this. But, your husband or your kid with hundreds of songs on their iTunes playlist who is constantly going around with ear buds jammed in their ears, would make the perfect Soundfreq-gifting candidate. And, you may even save their hearing a little too (even as you get annoyed to pieces by having to listen to their tunes).
Not down with the black? That’s cool, you can get your groove on in a bunch of different colors, including Ghost (which is just a spooky way of saying white). Doing Gangnam style while prepping dinner has never been so easy. You can snag this little gem at a bunch of stores including Target.com, Amazon.com, and the Soundfreq.com store too!
3. We had our family photos taken! After years of putting it off and passive-aggressively-blaming my husband for it, I found a fantastic Dude to shoot us. As macabre as that sounds, it actually turned out quite spectacularly…
We even went ahead and behaved like a normal family for like 18 seconds…
If you want someone who isn’t me to take your photos in the DC Metro area, let Spence Photographics do it. You’ll be all happy and stuff; I promise you.
4. I snapped some amazing photos. The kind that made me decide to be more attentive to the backgrounds of my photos. Because, seriously? This? Is awesome…
Perfectly cute beach photo made ridiculous by random trench coat clad woman power walking in the background. And, this…
5. Finally, I am a lucky chick as evidenced by the family, friends, and food I enjoyed at Thanksgiving. Despite the fact that #1 spent the ENTIRE day laying on the floor of the bathroom puking his guts out, and despite the fact that I didn’t even touch these pies (Weight Watchers, Woot!), it was a pretty banging day…
And, it resulted in my favorite photo of the week (the curl on the top of his head does it)…
- There’s nothing quite like Family Photos to get one thinking about Christmas Cards like these from This Wonderful Life.
- The LA Galaxy Players Clinic is amazing, and so is Angry Julie’s Photography. See?
- Joy’s Jots, Shot’s & Whatnots published some beautiful shots of Gatlinburg this week!

pBd Admits It’s Free: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Soundfreaq and received a product sample to facilitate my review.”
These photos totally made my day. You have such a gorgeous family and your outfit in the pics was so cute.
I want to hug that second family photo. It is so you.
Your family photos seriously are great!!! Love them all. That GIF is a lot of fun.
That curl! OMW! So adorable! We calls those “boingers” in our house. My son has super curly hair, too. He just got his twice-a-year haircut. LOL. Love seeing your photos.
OMG, I am in love with your family photos! My family hasn’t taken a family picture in, oh, I don’t know, never? After seeing yours, now I want to find a photographer around these parts and get some taken!
These pictures just made my entire damn week. Entirely.
Go girl!
Your family photos may have just convinced me to get some done for us! They’re so you. LOVE!
Did your WW leader not pass out the WW holiday recipes?
I have spent Thanksgiving on the floor. Puking my guts out. Tell #1 I am so sorry.
So that’s what normal looks like. It’s good to have a point of reference. Mr. S keeps saying, “We need to schedule photos.” And by ‘we’, he means ‘his wife’.
I guess I need to hurry. I am not getting any cuter. I need to do it before there are spouses and grandchildren in it.
I love your gif:)
And, those family pictures? Best I’ve seen. You win!
I am LOVING all those shots – the photo bomber ones are hysterical, as is the rogue curl! :) Your family is awesome and look like so much fun!
I love those family photos. Mine usually end up looking exactly like what they are: crappy stills from JC Penney’s. Everyone looks a little uncomfortable and no one looks really like themselves, but we do it anyway. Not sure why.
LOVE the curl on the top of his head. Stinking hilarious and awesome at the same time.
Those are great family photos. I’m so glad you shared them with us!
Your family photos are awesome!!
SMOKING HOT FAMILY. All of you. You’re gorgeous, the boys are so handsome, and you can go ahead and tell Dumb Dad that he’s dead sexy.
Hahaha, that family photos! Love them! They are fantastic. I’m a fan of the bow ties and colors too.
Those portraits are GORGEOUS! Really beautiful.
Love the candids and beach photos you took too.
PS It shouldn’t be too hard to clone out the woman in the trenchcoat, should you want to ;).
I ADORE your family photos. They are just so… YOU. :) Wonderful!
