Seven weeks.
That’s how long we have before The Dudes are putting another summer to bed and heading back into the classroom.
If you’re smart, when faced with that sort of a timeline, you’d be prepping; strapped with a list and a budget, maybe even shopping for supplies and back-to-school deals on clothing and such.
If you’re me, probably you’re telling other people about what they should do, and then doing the exact opposite yourself.
Because you can’t plan ahead to save your life bear the thought of the summer ending when it feels like it only just got started.
We’re still SUMMER-ING FOR CRYING OUT LOUD…
Plus, as part of my Happy Mama Movement, I’ve been trying this whole live-in-the-moment thing. My goal has been to focus on the joy of the present and to not think one teeny weeny bit about the stressors that are coming next. Or facing the fact that my children are getting big and old and independent. Or other things I can’t control.
I’m still working to find the balance between stressing incessantly and living fully in denial.
I’ll get there. You know, one day.
In the mean time, I still need to take care of business and thankfully, the massive signs blaring BACK TO SCHOOL SALE, and awesome sites like Coupons.com are around to help me focus.
I’ve never been successful at couponing (see above note on not being able to plan ahead), the searching, and the organizing, and the ability to even locate a pair of scissors when you need them are hurdles that I’m just not motivated to jump for the possibility of saving $.25 on four boxes of Graham Crackers (because I can’t see a world where I will actually eat that many crackers before they go stale or make me wanna barf at the sight of them).
And, I know, technology makes it easier. Unless you forget to use the coupon app every single time you go into a store. Because all of your kids are talking. And asking for things. And the dressing room is sweaty. And you came in for Mr. Clean and dog food anyway so why are you even in the dressing room?!
That’s why Coupons.com works for me.
I can sit at home. Where children can be thrown outside all day otherwise engaged and shop online using their coupon codes, or their store discounts (often you don’t need a code you just, for example, click through to Children’s Place from the Coupons.com site and get 20% off when you buy!).
Even their printable coupons are easier for me. I can look for ones I want as I create my weekly shopping list, print what I need, and go. I never feel compelled to hoard crackers or toilet paper or peanut butter because I CAN’T PASS UP A DEAL (even though inherently I know it can’t really be a deal because I don’t need 12 jars of peanut butter, and I don’t have anywhere to keep 12 jars of peanut butter, and seriously after like 6 jars of peanut butter won’t you physically HATE peanut butter?!). Instead, I just look for coupons to go with things already on my list, and use those.
And yes of course, there is an app too!
Focus.
We are supposed to be getting ready to go back to school.
Finding a sturdy back pack, and good shoes, and jeans that haven’t been turned into cut offs because the knees were blown out.
You may not be ready to make a school shopping list and check it twice, but entering a back to school sweepstakes at Coupons.com shouldn’t be too overwhelming!
You can enter to win the $2500 grand prize. Plus, they’re awarding DAILY $100 prizes to entrants too.
I don’t know about you but $2500 would cover The Dudes’ clothing for a year (hand me downs, like whoa) and a little thanks-for-being-awesome shoe award for mom.
That’s a present I’m more than happy to focus on!
