Last year, the governor of Maryland, where we call home, made a law mandating that Maryland public school students wouldn’t have to return to the classroom following the summer break until after Labor Day.
Thank you Mr. Governor!
We have been thoroughly enjoying the longest summer we’ve ever had and are so excited that we have five full weeks until it is time to head back into the classroom!
And we aren’t using it to be summer time slackers –we’ve hit the beach, gone to Disney World, swam, hiked, had movie marathons, read some great books, and tons more.
We still plan to spend a few days cabin camping and exploring downtown D.C.
But, the most exciting and memorable parts of our summer have been just spending time at Mimi and Papas’ house soaking up some good old fashioned backyard fun.
Because we are in the expensive process of buying and selling a home, we have tried to cut back significantly on excessive spending. That means we’re doing a bunch of things like swimming, yard games, and backyard summer activities that cost little more than whatever the going rate for a bag of marshmallows and a box of graham crackers is right now.
The Dudes were recently sent these awesome Energizer headlights that have seriously brightened (see what I did there?!) their backyard summer activities.
They love that they can strap them to their heads and enjoy their fun hands-free and they have quickly become a summer fun essential item!
