Because we all know that in my heart of hearts I am not really that kind of a person.
On a list of things I hate a lot, cleaning would be right there at the top. Because, while enjoy organizing, I hate cleaning.
Like, so much.
Like, so much that I happily sacrifice both shoe budget, and a smidge of cookie budget to not have to do it myself. I outsource as much of my cleaning duties as possible. I may actually work specifically so I can not have to clean.
Unfortunately, paying someone to do big jobs is a bit more of a challenge for those of us working solely from a moderate shoe and Girl Scout cookie budget. I am always on the hunt for a solution to this problem.
Recently, a company called Dupray reached out to me and asked me to test out one of their steam cleaners. I came thiiiiis close to saying no thank you. I mean, do I really need to test out cleaning products I have no desire to use? And, do I care if cleaning is easy? Because, when I think about it, my mother trained me so well that I could cleaning most anything with my eyes closed. It’s muscle memory at this point. So, I’m not avoiding cleaning solely based on difficulty level. I’m avoiding it because I think it freaking sucks.
Plus, I wasn’t sure I wanted something to make cleaning easier anyway. That would mean I’d be expected to do it more often. And, um, no thank you. Cleaning more is not something I want to do even if it is easy. Easy cleaning is still this sucks cleaning
However, in a random fit of good mothering, I decided to go ahead and work with them on this project. Really, the thought that I could impress my mother while also cleaning the carpets in Dude 3’s room to eliminate some of the dust mites and other issues that cause his lungs fits won out over my desire to never ever clean any thing.
Besides, he agreed to help me!
It really is so easy your 8 year old could do it and, if you’re lucky enough to have one of these like mine who actually thinks cleaning is fun, you can give him the opportunity to prove it like I did.
In fairness, once I got this bad boy home and got into watching the tutorial videos and learning about all it can do, even I became inspired by the possibilities. Now, I’m not saying I intend to personally explore all of them, but if say Mimi and Dude 3 wanted to like get together for a cleaning fest at my house with my Dupray steam cleaner, I can’t say I wouldn’t be down for that.
For those looking to add to their home cleaning arsenal, let me go ahead and give you a few need-to-knows on this one.
Choosing a Steam Cleaner: 5 Things to Know About the Dupray One Steam Cleaner
1. It’s easy to assemble. Dude 3 figured out how to do it while I was watching the tutorial on bed bugs (and yes, it exterminates bed bugs!).
2. It does ALL OF THE THINGS. Real talk you guys, carpets, tile, windows upholstery, inside of you car. If it’s dirty and not a living thing or clothing, chances are good it will joyfully survive a cleaning by this device.
3. It is a safe, chemical free way to clean. You don’t use any sort of product with the device –it cleans with the power of steam. It’s perfect for families like mine with children who suffer from environmentally triggered asthma.
4. Good for the earth. It turns water into a powerful cleaner and it doesn’t even use all that much. It leaves your home environment and that of the earth contaminate free. Also, should you be a person who actually buys lots of different cleaning tools, you can kiss that expense and wastefulness goodbye. Because the One Steam Cleaner can tackle so many cleaning tasks, it reduces your need for a lot of different cleaning tools allowing you to spend less, save space, and reduce waste.
5. It’s easy and fast. The device uses little water and super hot steam to clean your items which means it cleans well and it dries fast. No joke, my floor was clean and dry in 15 minutes and even I have a hard time arguing that I don’t have time in my life for that. And, in case you’re not convinced that it’s easy, they even have an app. IT does NOT send someone out to actually do the cleaning at the push of a button (one can dream), but it does put cleaning tips and device usage tips right at your finger tips making “confused and distracted by cookies” no longer a good excuse for not finishing your family room cleaning duties.
Disclosure: We received a complimentary steam cleaner from Dupray in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are our own and we really wish they sent someone with it to clean all of the things.
