I get it.
Your idea of a date night is going to Chipotle without the kids and watching a movie that doesn’t have a sing along version.
Totally, me too.
But, just because you’re only hitting up the local burrito chain and checking out the latest Romcom to hit theaters while the kids are home giving grandma the business, doesn’t mean you can’t up your fashion awesome on behalf of the special someone in your life.
Yes, he totally loves you in your footie pajamas, and he thinks your retainer and your eye mask are adorbs (I’m lying and so is he, he doesn’t think that stuff is adorbs, he thinks YOU are in spite of all the added crazy), doesn’t mean he won’t appreciate it immensely if you clean up a bit. It is date night after all, and since you haven’t been able to escape for one since Valentine’s Day 2012, this is a major special occasion.
So, act like it.
Date Night Style Tips for Moms
Tip 1: Break the monotony. Bathe, shave, put on some lip gloss, let your hair down, and put on a dress. Do something out of the ordinary as a special treat to your special someone. Or, just for yourself.
Tip 2: Downsize your bag. The diaper bag you’ve been carrying since you gave birth 4 years ago is an easy upgrade to your daily style.
Tip 3: Add some color. Add a fun scarf or a new lipstick color and ditch the boring denim and black you wear like a uniform.
Tip 4: Be daring. And, by daring, I mean sexy. For some people that means showing some leg, for others it means wearing heels instead of flip flops. Whatever sexy feels like for you, try that.
Tip 5: Dark jeans and leggings, mascara, tinted lip gloss, pantyhose, and accessories; always accessories. Easy hacks to make your outfits come together nicely. Dark jeans and leggings are easy to dress up, mascara and lip gloss make your face look fresher, pantyhose are like miracle workers (no wonder Beyonce lives in them), and the right accessories can change things in a hurry.
Bonus Tip: Take random photos of yourself in the deserted bathroom. Not getting caught will make you smile.’
Happy dating!
I smiled at your abandoned bathroom selfies because I’m completely guilty of that. I even get annoyed if I’m looking fabulous and someone’s in the bathroom preventing bathroom selfies. This happened on my anniversary so there is no photographic proof, but I looked fantastic that night.
pretty… LOVE the laser cut details on that clutch!!!!!

Ha. The selfies in the bathroom are hilarious and yet very true. The best part is the not getting caught part.
Love your first outfit, that blazer is gorgeous.
That dress was made for you! So so pretty!
