The ladies of Take Time for Style asked me to join them for the annual Moms Do Fall Fashion tour again this year.
Initially, I thought I’d pass because no one wants to hear another mom talking about her comfy, soft Lula Roe leggings. With their unlimited stretch. And their flattering, lump hiding patterns. You’ve had enough of that I’m sure.
But then I remembered the other piece of clothing that is even more important to me than my daily worn stretchy pants: my denim jacket.
I can’t even pretend that it isn’t a daily part of mom-iform (aka the uniform I wear daily as I mom through life).
It goes with pretty much every piece of clothing in my closet –and I mean that literally because whether I am rocking a pair of leggings and a tunic (as per usual) or a dressed up something for a rare night out (pretty much never), if push comes to shove, I can throw on my jean jacket and look like I meant it.
It’s just one of those versatile items that the fashion goddesses knew needed to be dug up from it’s retirement in the 90s and given a tighter cut and a less stoney wash.
(Note: this is NOT my same jean jacket from the 90s, don’t be silly, I was a slim little child thing back then, it’s the style that has been brought forth from retirement.)
My loves-layers mom bod could not be happier with this development as it has become quite unlikely that what looks good on me at so-close-to-40-I-can-taste-it and what is actually in style actually align.
Denim jacket gives me the best of both worlds.
And it’s like no matter what, when I throw on my jean jacket, my style looks intentional.
Do you guys know how often I can say anything I do other than sneak Oreos in the bathroom is intentional these days?!
Not. Often.
My life is currently comprised of a series of oopses that worked out just enough that no one complains to my face about them. Other than my kids. But they complained because I didn’t put the cheese directly on the middle of the bread this morning so I hardly think they count.
But under $50 denim jacket that Stitch Fix sent me…
She’s working out.
