The lemonade stand has officially opened for the season.
He charges $.25 for a cup.
For $.50 you get free refills and a gumball from the machine.
To enhance his profits over last year’s lemonade stand, this season, my budding entrepreneur changed his uniform (apparently the bowtie will be saved for special occasion stands only, and he will serve most of his customers while wearing a hand designed apron). He also requested a new booth (he said last year’s cardboard model was silly because it got all soggy in the rain, didn’t have good sun coverage, and tipped over when he brought out his better treats later in the season).
So, I built him one. Natch.
I started with a plan…
A, um, master plan. That is completely useless and totally uncopyable. So don’t bother. If you want to make one for your crew, just eyeball it. It’s pretty intuitive.
Plus, building it took me less than two hours and it only set me back about $20 (some of that was to replace screws I’d depleted in previous projects and for the set of wheels I absolutely had to have). I could’ve painted it for added awesome, but I got hungry and I had to pee, so I decided not to. He doesn’t care anyway and neither do his customers.
I added the sun shade for him and the wheels for me (I hate hauling it out to the street for him; this way he can roll it himself).
He added the tablecloth and the flowers (because customers like pretty shops best).
Seems like he was on to something: he made $15 on his first shop of the season!
He’s got a last day of school popsicle stand planned.
Now, if I can get him to stop eating all of his inventory…

i never had a lemonade stand in my childhood. always envied those who did! love yours!
That is awesome. I can’t believe he made money last year. I see kids doing this all the time and no one stops. Jerks.
The popsicle thing is a fabulous idea. Great for those hot days.
He could get cuter? I don’t think he could get cuter. Also, damn your man hands belief STOP FEEDING US LIES
So. Stinkin. Cute. My daughter would absolutely LOVE to do something like this. Might have to get over my fear of construction and try to build one of my own!
Ok seriously, that has to be the most cutest project ever. I loved every ounce of your lemonade stand post!
He owes my dad a portion of the profits since he bought him the bubblegum machine. They worked out a deal…
Go #3 Go!! He has mini-Trump written all over him. You know, aside from the creepy spray tan and absurd comb-over. I think I’m gonna start a lemonade stand…seems like a good business plan.
P.S. Your blue prints are quite inspiring. I probably would have just started nailing shit without any plan whatsoever.
Dude, he BETTER have more awesome hair than Trump. It’s like my only requirement as a parent. And, the blueprint. It’s because when I was building their tent (coming soon!) I had to go to the store 3 freaking times because I kept forgetting to buy stuff. This is mostly a shopping list.
That is so cute! I love that you built him a new lemonade stand. That is something my boys haven’t asked to do yet.
He saw some kids with a shabby version of it last year and he said he wanted to do that, but better. He made over $50 last summer and he’s well on his way again this year. My favorite part is that he changes his offerings every time he hosts a stand and the menu is entirely created by him.
So adorable! I’m so impressed by his rad business acumen and your dedication as a mom. Heart warming. Can’t wait until mine are old enough for a roadside stand!
He’s growing a garden also (just him, not me, I hate to garden). Tomatoes, peppers, flowers, beans, and watermelon. He has grand plans to sell his food by the end of the summer.
That is like the best lemonade stand ever. You have to stop saying you aren’t good at DIY! I’m so very impressed.
And, secretly glad my kids haven’t asked me to help them make one.
I’ve determined two things: 1) I am better at DIY than I am at crafting and, 2) I am only good at any of this because he makes me! The other Dudes weren’t interested in my crafting or building them things. This guy wants it all!
He is awesome, and I’m not even believing that you made that stand yourself. That’s crazy! Crazy awesome!
I know right?! It didn’t take nearly as long as I thought it would.
I am very impressed by the lemonade stand. I hate when my kids ask to do lemonade stands so I refuse to help. Great mom, huh?
I would hate it, but the kid is rolling in the dough! He’s saving his money for Disney this year. He actually thinks he can buy his own plane ticket:)
Look at YOU! Getting all crafty and creative on us! The lemonade stand is awesome! $15?! He’s got to be stoked!
He’s still not to the age where he understand the value of money. He just likes have a lot of it. Doesn’t matter what denomination. Like give him 4 quarters or 50 pennies to choose from and he will pick the 50 pennies every time. But he likes having paper money. He’s figured out that paper money “makes you richer” which is why no one really gives him that. He asked if we could just sell everything for $1.
Wow!! This is amazing. I’d love to buy lemonade (and gumballs) from him any day!!! Great job to you both!
Thanks. I’ve gotten pretty good with a drill around here. Just don’t ask me to cook something pretty. Maybe I’ll tackle the art of creating food that actually looks as good as it tastes next?!
That is seriously the coolest (and cutest) lemonade stand I’ve EVER seen! I better not let Princess Nagger see this, she’ll want me to build her one and I’d rather wait until after we move. ;) Your little entrepreneur is so stinkin’ CUTE! Oh, wait – make that ‘handsome’, he might not like be referred to as ‘cute’. ;) And thanks so much for the shout-out! :)
Aliens Turned Feathered Friends
He’s good with cute still. I won’t let him kick all of his baby-ness to the curb just yet. Kindergarten is still months away!
What a genius you are! And a handy one too. This is too cute. Love that your son is such a ham for the camera. ;)
He’s a life ham. I don’t even know if he notices that I have a camera out!
He is so stinkin’ cute. I’d buy anything he sells. :)
Hope your little guy is feeling better these days. I’ve been thinking about him. :)
Long story on the health front. But, we’re getting there!
50 cents is an awesome deal for refills and a gumball! Kudos to your son for doing such a great job… $15 right off the bat is great!
He uses his charm. And, if that doesn’t work, he scares them:)
Hey, at least your kiddo has charm. My girls jump straight to scaring people. ;)
