I’m back!
Did you miss me?!
Probably not as much as I missed sleeping in my own bed, eating food that is actually able to be located on the food pyramid, and using a reliable Internet connection!
So, lucky for all of us that I’m back in the saddle!
Not that I’m feeling refreshed or anything (seriously, there is no way to get rest during BlogHer or while being dragged around Disneyland for three straight days), but I’m just ready to go.
I have to admit that I’m feeling a little inspired bloggily.
Going to a place filled with women who are ambitious and goal oriented and focused and awesome has a way of making you feel like a total loser does that to you, ya know?!
I found myself hoping that some of the Mom Awesome emanating from my fellow female bloggers, writers, and entrepreneurs would rub off on me.
It didn’t, but I am going to be working on building something new that I’m pretty excited about!
But, because I like to keep things interesting with my cryptic speak and crazy eyes (I know you can’t seem them, but I’m totally doing them right now as I type, promise), I’m not gonna share one tidbit more about it.
Because someone might steal it (which, if you’ve been following me on Twitter lately, you know totally happens in the blogosphere because some people are just evil, word stealing thieves).
I’m gonna keep it under wraps until it’s all put together and ready to roll. Then, when I’m ready to spring the awesome on you, I’ll be all dramatic about it, with flare and fantasticism (totally made up word). Maybe a cupcake and a candle to celebrate!
That’s just how I roll.
In the mean time, how about I torture you with more cute pictures of my boys (sick of them yet?!) with a new episode of Dude Mom Life!
Dude Mom Life, Disney style…
Dude Mom Life is headlocks and horseplay even at the happiest place on earth…
Dude Mom Life is saying get down from there at least 647 times while waiting in lines at Disneyland…
Dude Mom Life is always celebrating like a rockstar. Even in a crowd full of obnoxious, pushing, anxious-to-hurry-up-and-wait people…
Dude Mom Life is living life with a Jedi Knight…
(Let me just say that being a part of the Jedi Training School at Disneyland was #1’s happiest moment life, bar none!)
Planning to hit up Disney anytime in the near future?
May the force be with you!
Don’t forget, you can share your Dude Mom Life too, and if you want to connect with other moms in a man house, be sure to check out my brand new page: Dude Mom Lifers!
Fun. Fun. FUN!!!
Michael was chosen for Jedi training a few years ago, and it was pretty exciting!!
My kids have two weeks off every October and we went to Disneyland last year. We got into the California Adventure hotel for WAY cheaper and it is well worth it because you get into California Adventure early and get good fastpasses for the show. The only problem is that the water slides at the pool were closed because it was a bit chilly, but perfect weather for walking around. Another down side to off season is that they had just started construction on a few projects so a lot of stuff was closed at California Adventure.
When my kids swing off the poles I just let them and tell them if they fall and hit their heads to not come crying to me. They know I’m serious because that’s the way we roll and I know their temperments, but this tactic doesn’t work for all kids.
Welcome back! Ya know, I need to get out more. I’ve never been to DisneyLand or Disney World! But you’ll be glad to know that I HAVE been to the Disney Channel! LOL Glad you’re back! Love the pix of those handsome dudes of yours!
Great pics! It looks like they had a great time. I’m waiting a few more years before doing Disney.
Love your pics…we are going to Disneyland in September. I can’t wait! Yea for your little Jedi!!
You were missed. Fabulous pictures at Disneyland!
We just did the jedi training at WDW…and we’re dying to make the trek to Cali for Disneyland…
and really? why do they always hang off the railings? why?
I seriously have no idea how you managed Disney after BlogHer! I think you won some mom points there!
Loved seeing the photos and oh my! My kids -and husband- would have a field day with the Star Wars stuff! {<–How's that for eloquent?!}
I love that photo of him in his Jedi robe. So sweet. Which he probably totally would not want to be called. What do we call them as they get older? Cool?
Oh yes. Get down. Get off. Don’t pull on that. Don’t touch your brother. Get your hands off of that! AHHHHHHHH!!
Yup. I can relate to that monkey swinging on the rails and if I try hard enough I may be able to pull him down for you with mental effort. :)
No you can’t. They are Jedi’s in training now. They know how to use the force for self-defense, but never for attack. My Dumb Mom power & your Mambo power is no match for two young padawans!
My son wanted to do the Jedi Training at Disneyland. We never got a straight answer about how the process worked. Did you have to sign up in advance? Did every kid who waited in line get to do the training? We didn’t wait as I know my son would have been crushed to wait and then not get to participate. He did make his own light saber…Mace Windu I think.
We are leaving for Disney World TOMORROW! Of course, we’ll be driving…. I think that I will even be joining you on a conference call while en route…. that should be interesting! Your Dudes looked like they were having a great time! Hopefully my dudes and dudettes will too!
BTW- Can I join up on Dude Mom Lifers if I have a sprinkling of dudettes in my mix?
I’m a scaredy cat when it comes to driving far. We went to SC which is like a 7hr drive and that was all we could handle! And, Dudes Mom Lifers are moms of ONLY Dudes. Because you know, having all boys creates a different in home dynamic than having a house of boys and girls. I can only imagine how things would be so different if #2 was a girl instead of a boy! But, you can submit something to Dude Mom Life to be featured on an upcoming Monday if you want! Just send a photo of your Dude Mom Life (one that shows what raising boys is all about) and then caption it, “Dude Mom Life is…”
Have you been to Disney World in Florida? How does Disney Land compare? I can bet we’ll never make it to Disney Land.
Thank you for adding me to your Dude Mom Lifers page!!
Yes. I’ve been to the FL one. It’s WAY hotter. And bigger. And Universal is closer. Everything is more centrally located and there is just, um, MORE. We did Disneyland & California Adventure completely in 3 days. And, even with the crowds we rode many rides more than once (Dudes’ choice of course!). We were at DWorld for 2 days when #1 was 1 and it was too hot to enjoy and too big to see in such a short time. We want to go to Dworld b/c of Harry Potter. Maybe like next year or something?!
Disneyland is older so the overall park is smaller. It’s also laid out slightly differently. For example, Pirates of the Caribbean is in New Orleans Square, not Adventureland. Plus it has at least 2 rides that World does not: the Matterhorn and the Finding Nemo submarine ride (which us old-timers remember as the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride).
The Magic Kingdom at Disney World is bigger, as is the entire resort. It’s more isolated, too, as Amanda says. At Disneyland, you can literally stay across the street; the park is surrounded by Anaheim.
If I had to pick only one to visit, I think I’d actually have to give the edge to Disneyland, for two reasons. One, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is the original and still the best. It starts out by going through a Louisiana bayou, which is overlooked by a Cajun restaurant (the Blue Bayou; book dinner there if you can. It’s expensive but a once-in-a-lifetime experience). Then the actual ride is twice as long as World’s–15 minutes vs. 7.
And two, Land’s It’s a Small World is much better. The building is larger with a huge outdoor facade and entry canals, surrounded by topiary. In the center is a big cuckoo clock that chimes every 15 minutes with figurines that come out and move around.
Having said that, either one is magic :)
Just my 10 cents ;)
I’m giggling b/c the food pyramid is now called MyPlate (which I will forever refer to as THE FOOD PYRAMID). When the middle girl came home back in April having to learn the pyramid Daddy and I were all like, um, a bit late seeing how she’ll be using this all of two months!
Oh, whatever! I hate it when they change stuff that has been working fine since like forever. Like, remember when we got ticked off at France a few years ago and we tried to change French Fries to Freedom Fries?! Yeah, no. But, thanks for telling me so when my kid comes home with the My Plate business I won’t look like a complete idiot!
Looks like a lot of fun. The Jedi training academy is so neat!
Yes! They didn’t get picked the first showing because we got there late, but the second time they both got picked and they were SOOOO excited. #1 is now convinced that he is a true life padawan. He tries to use the force all the time now that we’re home. Every now and then I have to let him think it’s working:)
Was the book helpful? L-O-V-E that place!
No Disney in our future. Our dream is a nice OBX beach cottage thing.
We went to Myrtle Beach last summer. The Dudes are still talking about it!
We are going in November for a week. Cant wait!!!
I bet November will be much better as far as crowds are concerned. I hear August is Disneyland’s busiest month so of course my poor planning had us there then!
We were there the Monday after Thanksgiving last year and again two days during Spring Break this year (end of April) and both times it was fairly busy but not insanely so.
August is definitely a nachtmare for any of the Disneys, but if you had to be at one, better Land than World. We did Disney World’s Magic Kingdom last August and I’ll never do that again. Hot, crowded, sticky, muggy, rainy. Late April/early May is ideal Orlando weather.
Can you tell we’re huge Disney fans? :)
P.S. If you’re ever planning to visit Disney again, check out http://www.mousesavers.com. Fantastic resource for discounts on everything from tickets to hotels, etc. The most reliable site we’ve ever found.
You will love the parks in November. We have done Disney World with kids in October and November. Few crowds. Short lines. The parks close a little earlier, but if you stay on property you can do the afterhours times that are available at each park.
