Baby Dog Daughter is a girl because Dumb Dad wouldn’t let us try again for a human girl baby to call my own thought that if I had something to dress up in pink I might stop putting our son in a tutu and chillax a little about not having another girl around the house.
Right. Because a Baby Dog Daughter is exactly the same thing as a baby human daughter.
It’s not that I don’t love The Dudes for being um, dudely.
I totally do and they know it.
But I have to be honest when I say that I have always wanted a little girl of my own.
Not just to have someone to go see chick flicks with, and get mani-pedis with, and shop with, and eat cupcakes with, but for other stuff too.
Mostly, because my mom and I are so close, I was hoping to have a daughter of my own to share with her so we could be one, big Dumb happy family!
I remember when I found out #3 was gonna be a Dude.
I was 13 weeks pregnant and I was at one of my many ultrasounds…
Doc: *wielding that funny shaped wand thingy* So, what do you have at home?
Me: A big pile of laundry Oh, yeah, 2 sons.
Doc: And, what are you hoping for with this one?
Me: Well, a girl. This is our last time after all, and you know, would be nice…
Doc: Yeah. Good luck with that.
Me: …….
I kept hope alive though, ya know.
Even though I had a scan every 4 weeks or so, I waited anxiously until the 20 week ultrasound to find out for sure.
To accept the truth.
To give up hope.
To stop the denial.
Guess everyone knows how that story turned out; despite the occasional tutu wearing, #3 is as Dude as all the rest of them.
And, I’m happy.
I still miss the dream of having a daughter to be friends with but, knowing my luck, my daughter would probably have grown up evil and not wanting to be buds with me at all.
And, as it turns out, having a few Dudes to call my own has it’s perks too.
Just ask my Dude Mom pal over at The Mommy Mambo…
What is your Dude Mom Life like?!
I always envisioned my life with girls – I am very girly – into fashion and makeup, etc.
I absolutely LOVE my two boys – and I actually wouldn’t want a third – FOR FEAR- of a girl….what would I do with her??? I love being the only girl in the house :)
I was raised in a house of boys….5!
I never wanted a boy…ever!
I have a 13 year old daughter…..and a 5 year old boy.
Both are wonderful and terrible in their own way.
But, the boy….has learned to be a 13 year old drama queen like his sister.
I am thinking drinking alcohol should start with coffee…especially during summer!
Thanks for letting me and my trio hang out today!
The nagging itch to have a daughter has mostly gone for me. Mostly. I’m afraid it will flare back up about the time they all run off with their true loves :( But for now I enjoy being just that for each. It’s wild. It’s stinky. And it’s going to be hairy! But I’m really glad God gave me what I needed instead of what I wished for :)
Momma of 2 boys here. I have 4 brothers, so I guess I was just meant to be a boy momma. I love it. I love that they will always be momma’s boys. I love getting dirty in the sand box. I love boy’s clothes. I love their growing shyness. I am close with my momma, too, but just really was blessed with boys. It was my hope and God came thru on that one ;)
what a wonderful picture. I love my dudes too but was also hoping for a girl, just one. I think every now and again about going for #3 but everytime I have to do laundry or clean up the toysplosion, I slowly back away from my thoughts. Dude life is pretty grand as it is.
Well, I don’t have a “Dude life”. I have a “Chick life”. God blessed me with 2 beautiful…V.E.R.Y. different daughters. And I hate to say it, but with my oldest Chick, I didn’t get that “best bud” to kick it with. Let’s put it this way, we came just a little shy of having her bed levitate off the floor and her spewing out green stuff. She was, to say the least, a HANDfull!! I love her to death though…NOW! :-)
My baby chick, well she’s of a different breed. Thank GOD! She is THE sweetest little thing and really likes me! She really likes me!! :-)
I did, however, get to raise my nephew for the first 12 years of his life. And, he’s a Dude! That was interesting. So I actually did get to have a dude around for a while. And to this day, I love him like he’s my own. I miss him so much though :-(.
Well, like my baby chick always says, “you get what you get and you don’t pitch a fit!” :-) So I’m not gonna pitch a fit about my Chicks…Love um, Love um, LOVE UM!!
HAHA! “just shy of her bed levitating”…..HAHAHA! I feel better now!
We must buy our mattresses from the same store. LOL!!!!
Oh my gosh. That is one of the most precious photos ever. EVER!
Wow! I totally understand how you feel. I have two dudes. I have always wanted a girl. I dream that we would go to dance class and gymnastics. When she got bigger she’d go to the Olympics and win a metal. Then she would be on broadway which would leader to a movie role and she’d be the most loved and talented star in America…because I had helped her to be that great.
Not that I’d love my dudes. I do they are awesome. They get why I want a little girl. They understand my need to have another girl around, since I am the only girl in my family. Well, I can only hope for grandaughter in like 10 more years.
When my dudes were little I was the envy of all my girl-mom sisters-in-law, because before any event they were chasing kids around, fixing hair, looking for matching earrings, hair bows, socks, and itty bitty purses. There were tears, broken straps on cute little sandals, and fights over lip gloss. I could just grab a pair of khakis and a polo (any of them, they all mix and match) from each kid’s closet, throw them on, and tell them to brush their teeth and their hair. I usually read a book and had a drink while watching the next 45 minutes of girl-mom entertainment. And my daughter dog loves to watch Mama Mia and Steel Magnolias with me, so it all works out.
I have three dudes (as well as a slew of adopted ones!) and I love every minute of it. I miss having a little girl sometimes, but I will hold out for a grandbaby one day. (BETTER NOT happen for A LONG WHILE yet!!!)
that is such a great pic of a mom and her dudes! I want one like it.
I so hear you on wanting a girl. I wrote a post about it awhile ago (not sure if you read that or not, so excuse me if you did I’m blathering on). I literally want to cry when I think of giving up on my “Dream” of having a daughter. It’s hard. And I also think I want a girl because my mom and I have such a good relationship.
Dudes rock! I have both, and girls require UN negotiations for everything from going to bed to what accessories are required for a trip to the gas station. Dudes love you like no one else can-no matter what. If there is a fight in the house, it’s usually started by one of the girls. And puberty starts later, so you have a few years less of the eye rolling, talking back, headaches. Of course, they’re more active, and more accident prone, but my Dudes make me laugh every day, and are happy to snuggle whenever I want. I love my girls, they have their own things that make them awesome, but I would probably have had a lot more kids if I had just had boys. They’re just easier.
LOL…you’re SO dead on about the accessories & girls! If I get asked one more time which purse (the tacky silver sequined one or the cute pink one with the monkeys one) my 9 year old should take to the post office…I WILL SCREAM!!! :-)
