It’s deep into summer at this point.
So, I bought the perfect swimsuit. I stumbled upon it by accident, but whatever, it counts.
As someone who lives in a lake oriented community with not one, not two, but three community pools, a swimsuit, as uncomfortable as the thought of it is, is also a life necessity.
Not because I get in the lake (I don’t do wild water), or even the pool really, but at least because I don’t want to be that fully dressed chick at the pool. And it’s hot.
Wearing your clothing while sitting for hours in the direct or semi direct sunlight is dang hot.
Plus throw in a vacation or two and a random trip to the bay and a swimsuit just makes the most sense.
Now, I’ve never been much of a bikini wearer (there was this one time at band camp in Hawaii when I was about 21); it feels a little too I’m-rocking-my-bra-and-panties-in-pubic for my taste.
Just not my jam.
But, I’ve also never understood those people who wear inappropriate swim attire. Because, um, it’s inappropriate swim attire.
Like I used to know this family who would just swim in their clothing. Always. No matter what. Just show up to the pool and jump on in, in a dress, or shorts, with socks and everything.
It seemed so unsanitary. And, just really, really odd.
I find that even those of us in the body-self-conscious-sect who appreciate a slice of modesty and/or real life support for the girls are best served in a well made swim suit.
A one piece, or a tankini, or even a bikini if that’s what floats your boat.
The challenge is finding one that doesn’t break the bank, or make you look like a granny, or come from Land’s End.*
I’ve got you girl…
Click on the “Swim Mom” link to find all of these styles.
*I’m totally not trying to hate on Land’s End, but I feel like they are monopolozing the mom swimsuit game. They’re a fair option, but they’re not your only option. Just sayin’.
I love the variety you provided all at an affordable price!
I will immediately taake hold of your rss feed as I can’t in finding your email subscription link or e-newsletter service.
Do you have any? Please permit me understand so that I may
subscribe. Thanks.
I have to wear a swimsuit a lot here, too. The beach, the pool. Even if I’m not getting in, it’s too hot not to- and plus I need to be able to jump in should one of my kids need rescuing. I found a suit I love at Athleta(different swim shorts than the ones you suggested- in my post today, actually!).
Good selections! I just got a tank at J Crew Factory on clearance, but their other suits are listed about $30-45. I’m with you- I’m just not as comfortable in a bikini. I have a few, but maybe from years and years of swim team, but I’m just way more at ease in a one-piece.
Hey! It’s like you’re reading my MIND. I just got off the ORDER FREAKING *NOW* page on Athleta, hitting up that sale.
