We’ve been doing the annual holiday photo card for years.
Let’s take a look back…
I love sending holiday cheer all old school like via the US Postal Service and I love pulling them out towards the end of each year to look back on how much they’ve grown.
I hope people who receive them enjoy them as much as we do.
Or more even.
Because, they ain’t cheap!
I was shocked this year to note that my final bill for holiday photo cards was EIGHTY THREE American dollars!
That boils down to about $1.66 per card!
I know, when you put it like that it doesn’t sound like a lot, but when you consider that a regular sized human family with friends and relatives to send photo Christmas card joy to needs at least 50 cards, and that’s after you cross off everyone who hasn’t sent you a card for the past 3 years, or ever, the cousin that moved back home with his parents, and the up-the-street neighbor who lets their annoying little dog diarrhea on your drive way every morning of life, you can see how quickly this thing gets costly.
And, it’s important to note that my $83 was the discounted price I snagged on Cyber Monday, with a discount code, and free shipping.
I could buy a pair of really cute boots for that. Or sign my kid up for an entire season of indoor soccer. Or buy an authentic Colin Kaepernick jersey for myself. Or a single ticket to a Niners game so that I can swoon as he runs past see him play (if I want to sit in the nosebleed section and go by myself).
Needless to say, this is my sorry-if-you-didn’t-get-a-fancy-holiday-photo-card-on-the-premium-paper-with-the-pretty-fonts apology.
Hopefully the boxed card with the photo slipped inside consolation prize wasn’t heartbreaking for you.
And, if it was, perhaps this really creepy kids and dog photo I put up on my Facebook page will cheer you up! It says we love you, and we want you to have a happy holiday season, and a spectacular new year. Or be really put off by the sideways dog picture and feel grateful that we didn’t make you put something this hideous on your wall. If only we had a cat…

Another things I’m running behind on. Help me.
We do Christmas cards every year and I love doing them! I still am working on getting all of mine out this year. It’s taking me forever, because I can’t seem to not write a handwritten note on each and every one. Why?! I know a card is enough! I love receiving them in the mail too! So fun to look back. Thanks for the feature this week!!
Yep..spent about the same and had a discount code too…they are too expensive…next year will either be fewer people or different cards…or both lol. We do photo cards mostly bc we don’t live close to family so it gives them a chance to get some pics and see every one looking decent.. I may just send abox card and an email a pic next time.
I have done those kind of cards twice. Both times I got them free for reviewing the site and products. This year 75 got me 25 cards!! Seriously?? Yeah I will make my own next year. That is insane!!
The cute cards are always the most expensive. I’m thinking next year I may haul my little (big) butt to Sam’s Wholesale and work some magic on that photo machine thing they have there.
I’ve kind of fallen off the Christmas card wagon…I used to send them out every year. But then it got harder to get our family picture for the card (because I will only send out a photo card!) and the PRICE! I’m with you…it is more expensive than it should be!!
We have been doing them every year-and I send out 50 plus also! THIS YEAR, some peeps got crossed off the list. I only did 35 (gasp) and some boxed (but still super cute Mara Mi). I love getting cards, but if I’ve been sending you pix of my adorable offspring for 9’years and got nothing from you? Off. The. List.
My total was close to $100 also. Totally used the ‘secret’ card so hubs wouldn’t flip his lid. Sweetheart thinks those things are cheap.
I was late to the party jumping on the photo card bandwagon since we’ve only been doing that the past couple of years – I wish I had started it much earlier to see the changes from year to year! LOVE all your cards! :)
