The Dudes haven’t settled on their Halloween costumes yet.
I know, what are they waiting for?
And, if they don’t hurry up they are all going to be going as showers. Like the Karate Kid. Which would be lame. Or awesome. Depending on who you are.
Anyway, for all of you living on the edge like we are, here are some last minute DIY Halloween Costume ideas that won’t get your kids chased down the beach by Cobra Kai.
Napoleon Dynamite. Okay, I actually can’t guarantee that this one will be a hit with the everyday kids, because I can’t guarantee that everyday kids even know who Napoleon actually is. My kids know, because it’s one of my life tenets that I expose them to awesomeness, be it of the past, the present, or the future (and yes, I do know what will be awesome in the future).
A box. Because they’re laying around and it’s funny. We told him he was a robot, but we knew the truth. Important note: don’t forget to cut eye holes for your little person to see. The results could otherwise be catastrophic. Ask me how I know this.
Macklemore. He’s hip. He’s cool. Your kids and their friends actually know who this is. And, best part, everything for the costume can be found at the Thrift Shop (although, I think it’s important to note that this jacket was chosen for me by Stacy and Clinton)!
A nerd. Because it’s easy. All you need to do is bust out some of those old clothes your kid has grown out of, hike his pants up around his neck, give him some crew socks, and a calculator, and be liberal with the hair gel. Finish off the look with some taped glasses. Don’t have fake-real glasses on hand? Get an old pair of sunglasses and bust out the lenses. That’ll do!
Ace Ventura Pet Detective. If you have a tutu and some boots you have a costume on your hands my friends. Ace Ventura, as inappropriate as he is, is probably one of our all time favorite movie characters. Just remind your kids that the whole butt talking thing is NOT to be reenacted, particularly not when your in-laws are visiting! Come to me my jungle friends…
Have something to share this Wordful Wednesday? My co-host, Seven Clown Circus are excited to have you link up with us!
Be sure you also pop over and give this week’s featured linker, Elaine from Miss Elaine-ous Life and her photos of Fallish Fun, a peek. Her pictures of the pumpkin patch make us want to go to the pumpkin patch again (even if it was a muddy wreck last time I was there)!
Macklemore! LOL! Forget the kiddo, I’m stealing this idea for myself. :) These are awesome, and you’re little man is too stinkin’ adorable. And a trooper for posing in all these costumes for you. My little guy won’t even wear his own costume.
Do you teach? I mean really, your images are so clear and crisp if that makes any sense. I love them. I like how they pop. They look like a magazine! I WANT…
A box! Haha! Actually I can’t lie we do that anyways. But I love your ideas. Cute and creative. I did the whole boring buying costumes at a store thing. My kids knew in August that they were going to be power rangers. (Actually I knew since about the day after Halloween last year that is was going to happen.)
I just want to hang with #3 regardless of what he’s dressed as so I’m guessing that counts as an all around win.
I couldn’t agree more!! What a cutie!! And such a good little model! Did you have to bribe him or does he just eat this stuff up?
You. Are. Genius.
That is all.
:)
Too cute! His personality shines through in all the costumes. Personally, I’m totally diggin’ the Ace Ventura costume.
You have an adorable model to work with but you have some serious costume creativity going on, too! Awesome ideas!
Okay dude #3 could rock anything, but seriously, the Ace Ventura one? Totally takes the cake! I can’t stand it. It’s perfect.
