My Dudes like me in dresses.
With silky hair and painted toes. They have no idea how much these items cost to achieve; the time, the effort, the dolla bills.
All they know is that they approve of Mommy’s toes when they’re glittery and that Mommy looks best when her curls are smashed into oblivion leaving behind hair that blows in the wind that they are allowed to touch without fear of barking repercussion (curly girls know what happens when dry curls are manhandled; it does NOT end well).
So, of course, on Mother’s Day when they’ve planned to take me out on the town, I comply, with a dress and painted toes and smashed hair too …
Sure, they don’t look happy, but they are. Deep down on the inside.
And me too, because THIS DRESS…
One of my fave spring outfits. Super cheap ($9.99!), springy, light, and so much fun. It’s an H&M beach tunic actually, but I paired it with a white camisole, a pair of white, crochet shorts that I picked up from Kohl’s last spring, and wedges I’ve had for years.
Shopped my closet then hit the store for something fab to spice it up with for the season. Fashion win!
People are constantly telling me they would never think to go inside of an H&M or a Zara or a young-ish type store with loud music and patterned leggings bursting out of it. I say, you’re only as old as you act so stop yer judging, be brave, and go take a peek!
I’ve been a die hard H&M-er sine my days in Germany where it was the ONLY place I shopped, but I’ve also learned that adding a little fun and trendiness to your wardrobe can be achieved without breaking the bank. And that there is more to a styled life then what you can get at Target.
You may not be down for the floral treggings (I ordered a pair, and, just, no) or the lace tube dress (belly, SO. MUCH. BELLY.), but a nice ruffled blouse (for under a blazer) or a fun beaded clutch (for date night with the hubbers) can easily add a little spice to your wardrobe.
Here are some more fun, dressy type finds to check out this spring, you don’t even have to go inside of the club-kid-legging-palooza stores to snag them, just order some freshness online…

I love the colours in your tunic. I like the way the print is quite large which is better than the small ditsy patterns I’ve seen so much of recently. Glad it was such a bargain! I have just started following you on bloglovin. I will leave my link just in case you would like to follow

I wish we had an H&M store around here. Glad you are comfortable shopping in a younger trend store (I tend to also, rue 21, Platos closet, Charlotte Russe). Happy belated Mother’s Day, being a mommy of four can be a handful but I can’t imagine With all boys. Please come by sometime. Rachel xo
You boys are too cute! Loving how you made the beach tunic work!! I’m obsessed with H&M lol

I love that your boys love you all dolled up. So cute. I found H&M in London and left my heart there. Then I found it again in Chicago, and a few years later it came to Cali. I love it. I think they have some of the best options out there. Also, their kid clothes are adorable.
I think H&M and Zara have hidden gems! I always find great pieces for the office like H&M’s blazers or pretty flowy dresses from Zara! You found a great versatile piece I’d totally rock it! :) Your little dudes are adorable!
I love H&M but to be honest, I don’t buy anything over $40 there because it’s going to fall apart just like the $10 stuff…eventually. The thinner it is, the sooner it tears, but I’ve learned that it’s not me; its them. Taking care of it isn’t the issue. And I adore Zara (though I’ve noticed their prices creeping up, especially for kids’ stuff). Forever 21 I won’t do because I can’t deal with a store that won’t take back its own dang merchandise (have they changed that?) I NEED THAT LIGHT BLUE MANGO DRESS!
I really wish we had an H&M near us. Such cute things and great prices. I do judge about Forever 21 though. I just can’t with their music. I’ll be in there for less than 10 seconds before I feel like yelling at someone to turn down the music. And I have no idea if they are all like this, but the one near us is just a big cluttered mess. It’s like shopping in a thrift store with no organization. I sound really old right now.
Love this dress, saw it on IG and love the pattern. Hope you had a great mothers day.
