All over the Internets you’ve been seeing these posts about what people are thankful for.
It is coming up on Thanksgiving after all, and I guess people are feeling all reflective and what not.
I’m feeling a touch of that too so I thought that I’d take a moment to let you know what I’m thankful for this year…
5 Things I Am Super Thankful For (aside from Life, Liberty, and Lovely Children)
1. That I didn’t break my neck or even suffer an embarrassing or painful fall when I joined roller derby for a day…
I was actually pretty mediocre fantastic at it if I do say so myself. I rocked the learning-how-to-fall drills, I am fast on my feet, and I was able to stay in “derby stance” for a good 40 minutes before my back started to spasm and my thighs began to give out. I even kept going a bit after that! You can see the entire ordeal on video. Go ahead, try not to laugh…
2. That I bowl like a boss. At #1’s 11th Bowling Birthday Party Extravaganza, I laid the smack down on Dumb Dad and a whole mess of small children. I mean, seriously, look at that form! I bowled a 160 with that! Sure, sure, the bumpers where up, but I took points off every time I hit them, which was not even more than like 8 times.
3. This hair. I love getting a belly laugh in when he raises himself out of bed each morning looking all zombie-baby-alicious…
4. That my son, on his 11th birthday, has finally learned to throw the deuces up in photos like a boss…
5. That I only screamed a teeny bit when I got this in the mail the other day…
Because #2’s teacher was right there getting her mail at the exact same time, and like that woulda been all weird and junk.
Please note, I am also wildly thankful for The Dudes, Dumb Dog, Dumb Dad, my extended family members, small circle of friends, everyone who reads my blog on a regular to semi-regular basis, and a host of blessings my family has been afforded. But, duh, that goes without saying.

I’m pretty sure I would seriously hurt myself if i tried to skate again.
Nooo! We went again the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Even Mimi was out there with us! SO much fun!
I’m pretty much in awe of your roller derby for a day awesomeness. How fun! I remember the days of spending a Saturday night in jr high and high school rollerskating. I think it’s so amazing that grown woman now get to do it and be bad ass about it. That’s one competitive sport.
I am having my next bday party at the roller rink. Not even kidding. You have to come!
I love your list of “thankfulness”! Trying out a Roller Derby would be a blast. You go girl!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

It was an awesome experience for sure. Mostly because no one actually injured me!
You are rocking that roller derby gear! LOL!! :)
My kids wake up with crazy wild bed head too. Sadly, no afros though. I think I am kinda jealous of that, those are adorable :)
I am never cutting his hair. I will probably pay him to keep it when he’s a teenager.
The roller derby is just awesome. How fun!!! Loving those AMAZING curls- wow & thanks for the shout. The truffles are so easy (yet still messy) and oh so good!!! Hope you all have an awesome Thanksgiving! Hugs my friend!
I seriously wish I could make them and eat just a few. I’d eat the entire batch and be all mad at myself for ruining my diet. My willpower isn’t strong enough yet!
LOVE the roller derby shots!
All I have to say about bowling is UGH. I’m seriously the world’s worst (and angriest) bowler. I generally don’t take things too seriously but bowling brings out the obnoxious devil in me!
Have a great holiday with those handsome dudes!
I am actually a pretty horrible bowler too. I was on a press trip in Miami and I bowled like a 40. It was bad. All of the other journalists literally shamed me in public.
Roller Derby!! A girl I graduated from high school with is HUGE into roller derby…and I think she’s pretty fantastic at it too.
Love #3’s morning hair. Buster, for having such fine, straight hair, can have some pretty atrocious/funny morning hair too.
Thanks for including me in the blurb at the bottom of the post! You rock. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Everytime I see Channing Tatum I think of you. And how you asked me who he was at BBC. Oh, just the sexiest man alive. :)
Love your thankfuls, girl! Made me smile before I brave the pies!
(*Baking, not eating. Because eating I do JOYFULLY.)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loves!
I didn’t bake a thing and I only had ne piece of pie this year. Dang Weight Watchers!
Every time I read your posts I literally laugh out loud!!! You clearly have a lot to be thankful for, such a beautiful family!
Thanks you so much! Laughing out loud is good.
Roller derby seems so awesome!!
Great thankful list! I enjoy the ones that I can stay awake during LOL
I just love your sons hair!! I think that it’s partly because of his awesome curls that I don’t cut my sons off!
I keep hearing about this magazine… maybe I should check it out.
Thanks! It is a very visually entertaining read!
Dude? The Derby…serious awesomesauce!
The dudes and the dad are pretty awesome, too!
It was soooo much fun. Except for when my back was spasming from the pain:).
I just did a mini shoot with a real roller derby girl over the weekend. Come check out a couple of my pix. (I’m still editing.)
Very cool pics. Our roller derby is a team that is competitive in the area. I can’t wait to go to one of their real matches and see them get buck.
