Maryland’s Governor Hogan declared July 18 – 26 Maryland Buy Local Week encouraging Marylanders to shop local. In order to support Maryland producers, farmers, watermen, and others who produce fresh food for our state and our nation, Marylanders are encouraged to take the Buy Local Challenge to incorporate a Maryland grown, produced, or harvested food product in their meals each day.
In Frederick County, we are fortunate to be surrounded by farms who produce countless food products we can enjoy. It make take a little more effort than hitting up the produce section of Walmart, but it’s worth to have fresh, locally grown foods on your table.
Summer is the perfect time to shop local and support Frederick farmers, from daily farmer’s markets across the city, to the farm fields themselves, here are some places to grab your fresh food this week and beyond.
