We aren’t a major buy our kids things family.
They were taught very young not to beg for things at the store so it is a rare occurrence that they even bother to ask us for things they want when we go shopping.
Or at all.
We often go months without buying them things outside of what they need.
We usually only get them things on their birthdays and Christmas and, between that, they are pretty responsible for getting things they want with their own money.
But every now and then, I sit back and think, I haven’t bought my kids a single item in like 8 months. They deserve a surprise!
While we appreciate the better value of experiences and time together, I also know that I like buying myself fun, pretty things from time to time -they should have some of that too.
But, when Teepee Joy reached out to me and asked if I’d like to try out a play teepee I came thiiiiis close to turning it down.
I had all of the reasons.
We have enough things in our home already, I am decluttering right now, I hate putting stuff together, those things are kinda for babies anyway, do kids even need a play teepee?
Does anyone even need a play teepee?
Nope, but man, having one could be awesome!
It is a private area that could be perfect for reading and hanging out. It would give Dude 3 some much needed solo time since he and his brother share a space.
And, when you really break it down, a teepee is really just like a triangle shaped fort.
And everyone knows that forts are a life joy we all need.
So I went ahead and said yes!
Our Teepee Joy Play Teepee
You can choose from a predesigned fabric or customize your own. I went with a light colored fabric that would match our new house so it could easily be moved with us.
It arrived a couple of weeks ago and, initially, I procrastinated putting it together. When I couldn’t take it glaring at me from its box in the corner any longer, I finally broke down and just decided to carve out some time (and by time I mean hours) to assemble it.
Only, I didn’t need hours!
I only needed about 10 minutes (even when you add the fact that I put the poles in upside down the first time). You can see the entire set up in under 5 minutes thanks to awesome technology.
The entire thing was set up and assembled, without even breaking a sweat, by yours truly.
And Dude 3 was soooo happy when he came home!
If getting a play teepee isn’t on your list of things you’re thinking about, add it.
You won’t be sorry and your kids will be all, “Mom, you’re the best!” for at least 15 minutes (which technically is longer than it takes to build it so totally worth it!).
He calls it his tactical fort and he goes inside of it to do all of his planning (and by planning I think I just mean hiding from his brothers when they get annoying).
