What to Binge Watch on Netflix While You’re in Your Room Hiding From Your Thanksgiving Guests
Gilmore Girls
You guys! I finally got into it. I didn’t watch it back in the real life Gilmore Girls days because I was in college, and then I was a new teacher, and then I was a new mom. So I missed it. But, when I heard their reboot was happening I started watching from the beginning so I’d be ready and I love it! The new episodes are live on the platform right now so if you’re all caught up on the story pop over there and check it.
The Fall
I have two words for you: Jaime Dornan. Although, arguably, he is somewhat less sexy as a freaky serial killer than he is as say a freaky billionaire. It culminates in three seasons so you can probably finish it in a weekend with plenty of pee and snack breaks worked in.
The Walking Dead
Because it is one of the best shows I’ve seen in life. I know zombies aren’t your thing and you don’t want to watch something scary and it seems so gory and gross. I get it. I was there too and I didn’t start the series until season 3 was already in the books. I waited for nothing. It is more about the characters than it is about the zombies. You kinda even forget they are there at points. It’s really not scary (well, the first episode is kinda creepy but the rest aren’t bad), and you win on the gory part. It totally is, but it’s also worth it.
The Flash
Barry Allen is bae. If you love superhero shows (like everyone) this is a great one. Also, Grant Gustin (he plays Flash) is adorable.
Supernatural
Sooooo good! It has some corny bits in it, especially back in the beginning seasons, but it is a great show. Long running story line and theme (supernatural type stuff) with a new story line introduced every episode. They’ve been on forever so clearly they are doing something right! And I’m not just saying that because Dean is hotness.
Once Upon a Time
This is one of those long running shows that you will one day wonder why you didn’t watch it when it was on. So watch it! I fell off on season 3 but I am going to get back into it after I polish of Supernatural and Gilmore Girls. If you’re into fairytales and magical things you will dig it.
iZombie
Dude 1 and I are obsessed with this show. The brain eating I can do without, but the lead zombie, Liz, her sidekicks Ravi and Clive, her ex-boyfriend Major, and her roommate Peyton make quite a team. The other bad guys in the show are pretty intriguing too and I’ve even developed something of a soft spot for Blaine, the most evil zombie in the zombie infested world they inhabit. They are still making new episodes on The CW, but for some reason Season 3 isn’t due out until April, 2017. That means you have plenty of time to catch up on the first two on Netflix and be ready to roll when the new season starts in a few months.
Orange is the New Black
But, it is not for everyone. There are a ton of sexy things. And like really sexy things. So sexy, they may actually be a teeny bit raunchy in parts. But again, like with the zombies, once you get over all of the lady sex and focus on the characters and their stories it is good. All good. And I can’t stop watching until Piper gets out of jail at least anyway.
Stranger Things
You must’ve heard about this one a ton because they sort of shook up the pop culture world with their awesome. I also wrote about it back when I watched it, you can read that here:
Sherlock
This recommendation is one based entirely on hearsay. I haven’t watched it myself –it is on my list, and it comes highly recommended from friends whose assessment can be trusted unquestionably. Also, it even boasts a 5-star rating on Netflix. You don’t see that everyday.
