It’s been a while since I’ve dedicated a post to Miss Maya.
She’s still here.
Being all cute and stuff…
She still has her moments of intense annoyingness that I imagine will never entirely depart, but they are slightly less frequent and we love her anyway.
We’re glad she came to join Casa de Dummies.
You know, mostly.
She is right up around 6 months old now. I lost count when I stopped having to take her to the vet every 4 weeks for them to strip me of my cash.
They’ve left me be for now since we just had her lady parts, um, handled. They know I’m broke so no point in harassing me about Lyme disease and microchips and other such nonsense she can clearly live without.
The only reason I opened my wallet for this particular procedure was because I refuse to share this house with another moody woman. There is a reason God blessed me with this Dude Mom Life.
Maya is no longer a full woman.
Other than that juicy gossip, we are just enjoying and simultaneously lamenting all of the bits of being dog owners.
Particularly the parts that I just don’t get.
Like the grass eating.
I know, something to do with natural settling of the tummy and such.
But, honestly, if Miss I-Eat-Everything-Slower-and-Smaller-Than-Me spent less time ingesting not-to-be-consumed items, maybe her tummy wouldn’t require quite so much settling.
I’m beginning to suspect that she was born completely devoid of instincts.
She is easy to sneak up on, she doesn’t sense evil (she seriously loves every single person I can’t stomach), and she will eat ANYTHING.
Really.
A canister of water balloons, Maya?
Really? An entire canister of water balloons?
Did they taste good going in?
Because they looked downright disgusting coming out.
We spend $50 smackers a month paying for specialty dog food to prevent her from suffering the bloat, the mad gas, and the mud butt she gets when she eats the cheap stuff.
And yet, she can eat copious amounts of plastic and be completely fine, and happy to boot.
I don’t get it.
Similarly, I’m sure she doesn’t get why I insist on dressing her up in costumes.
Pretty much just because I find dogs in hats hilarious. Because they always look so peeved about it…
And, to get back at her for stealing The Dudes’ sandwiches last week.
And to let her know that, despite her ability to figure out human things, I’m still smarter and I own her.
Bought and paid for baby, with cold hard cash.
So, can your dog do this…
Believe me, you hope not.
What are you getting Wordful about this week? Link up here and then head over to Angie’s Seven Clown Circus and see what she’s up to.
And, don’t forget next week is the Something Spooky link up where one luck spookster will win a gift card to Celebrate Express!
Hello, I’m a new follower to your blog and GFC from Blog Frog. It’s a pleasure to meet you and check out the cute pics of your dog :) I look forward to reading more. Hugs & Blessings!
She looks so sweet in her pictures!
She’s so cute!! My post for this week is from my dog’s birthday party – lots of unhappy dogs in hats. ;)
So, what you’re saying is, your dog likes hats? Cute!
This is my first time linking…thanks!
Your puppy is adorable! I used to blog about my dog all the time when he was little. Now that he’s almost 2, I don’t as much. Maybe it is time for a new post about him soon. :)
Awwwww! I love her crown…. SO CUTE! I did my doggie today too. :-) She has a pumpkin costume. I definitely need to do a spooky shoot for next week. :-)
You almost make me want a pet. Almost. She is giving the serious evil eye with that hat on.
The costumes are why I miss having a dog. The door opening is why I’m glad we’re dog free.
Chicken owners for life!
I’m so glad the kiddos have a dog to love.
She is so flipin adorable and no mine can’t open a door. course we have those round knobs which makes it nearly impossible for them to do it lol
Her look in that hat is making my morning. And the entire canister? Damn, she didn’t think they were nasty after, like, 5?
Aw! Look at that face! Who can believe she gets into that much mischief?
The video at the end was my favorite part…
eww….now its official….I don’t want a dog.
That dog opening the door is some kind of funny. Now if she can learn to let herself out you’ll never have to worry about that part of dog parenting.
What a smart cookie…love the Mickey hat on her.
Cool Bean Mommas
Please don’t feel like I’m trying to one-up you on the dog tricks thing.
Because I’m now going to try and one-up you.
My dog?
Rings the doorbell. No lie.
Booyah! And I smell a new blog post brewing. Thanks for the inspiration! Although I do feel a bit silly that I posted my “Something Scary” a week early. booyah.
OMG! She can freaking open the door?!?! I knew there was a reason we didn’t go for those lever door handles. ;-)
Nope! My dog DEFINITELY can’t open the door like yours :) But he can most definitely whine and moan a lot when he wants a door open?! – Which is the reason when we built our new house that we had an entirely separate door put in our mudroom out to our backyard (beyond our normal slider door) which has a doggie door built into it… Gotta love what we do for our “1st born”…
Loving the crown and mickey ears! I am just amazed that you got her to sit still long enough to get those to stay on her.
It’s amazing how dogs can eat anything under the sun and be fine – but expensive dog food? Not so fine. She’s CUTE!! :)
Two women in the same house with the menses?!? Oh H to the No! I would have dropped serious dollars to have that procedure done too! ;-)
She is very adorable!
She’s probably thinking, “You better start praying you don’t come back in your next life as a dog and I get to be your owner.” =p
That dog is just too cute.
Dear god she is sooooooo cute!
Oh, and my inlaws dog can open doors. So far, its smarter than my neighbor’s 2 yr old.
I have a random dog post up today too! Not that yours is random. Mine totally is. I love Maya. She looks part Pitt? I have one and he’s the best dog ever. I would clone him if cloning machines were as easily accessible as a …so many inappropriate jokes just buzzed through my mind then….
Anyway, this is my wordful Wednesday comment.

I learned something new today about the grass chewing!
She sure is cute : ) Especially with that fab Mickey Mouse hat.
Lovin’ Miss Maya in the crown … as Mickey is pretty cute too!!
Happy WW!
Does jumping up on the door so hard it jars it causing the alarm to go off count as opening the door? Because my dog has that trick down!
Oh and we put stupid hats on our dogs too. Wait until you see their Halloween costumes! Way more fun than the kids, who have opinions and stuff.
so funny! and she should so just accept she is rockin the minnie hat!
Awww. So cute!
LOVE her tiara. It’s perfect!
And good thing she can let herself back in after she goes out to tinkle, huh? ;P
I LOVE puppies. But I hate them. The chewing, the biting, the slobbering. But they’re SO cute!!!
We’ve got it opposite here..our cat is a girl also. Poor Mr. Serious.
And, she eats grass, too. I think it’s for the sole purpose of puking on my floor!
Oh my goodness! She’s gotten so big!! And that’s quite a trick she can do ;)
Love the Mickey hat and the crown of course :)
Welllllll, dog hats ARE hilarious. :)
Oh, she looks so cute as a princess!! And no…my dog does not know how to open doors…he chews them :S
I blogged about our puppy, too! And I hear you about the mostly glad you have a dog part; I can’t yet commit to the completely glad.
she does look super pissed about the hat! ha!
and I hope you never have to assist in the, uh, outcoming non food particles…blech
